help pick my Epsilon engine
 

I will be starting a CA Models Epsilon (90 size) muy pronto and need help with the engine. I want to have enough power for 3D with plenty of power to pull out of a torque roll.

I originally was planning on putting in a ST90 but am seriously thinking about a Saito 100 as well. Now that I am looking around I am also considering an OS 1.08.

Will a ST90 or Saito 100 give me plenty of power and unlimited vertical?

I have YS 110 on mine. I haven't done so much 3D goofing with it, but it sure pulls out of torque roll... I haven't seen Saito 100 in action but what I've read about it here in RCU it does not have enough power for 3D with Epsilon... Marcelo Colombo uses OS91FX on his Epsilon. And as you can see on the Epsilon video it sure has enough power...

I highly recommend you to use a OS 91FX with stock muffler. It has enough power to pull out of a torqueroll, and it's cheaper than 4cycles engines.

Juan gracias por el video. Creo que una vez vi un video de tu Funky. Vuelas muy bien. Ya tengo un funky y me gusta mucho pero con un TT pro46 falta potencia.

?Que hiciste para los comandos de elevador en el Epsilon? Estoy pensando en poner dos servos, uno para cada lado. Tambin creo que voy a poner el ST90 en el Epsilon. Creo que tendria bastante potencia. No es un OS pero es un buen motor. ?Que helice estas usando en el video?

Hola,

lo de profundidad lo hice con un servo, del que sale una varilla y luego se divide en dos, una para cada media profundidad. EL problema de usar un servo por cada media profundidad es que se te quedará el centro de gravedad muy atrasado.

Sobre la hélice, es una APC 14x8, y va bastante bien.

MI EPSILON ESTA CON UN ST G90 , ES FANTASTICO, MUCHA FUERZA CON UNA APC 14/6 LOGRAS VERTICAL INDEFINIDO, EL ELEVADOR LO HICE CON DUBRO 500 UNO PARA CADA ELEVADOR CON UN SERVO CENTRAL.
UNO DE LOS ePSILNB QUE FABRIQUE, ME LO PIDIERON CON LOS SERVO ATRAS, PERO EL CG QUEDA MUY ATRAS (+-43%),
CUIDADO CON LA BOTADA DE ALA DE ESTE MODELO!!!!, SI TRATAS DE HACER HARRIER TE DARAS CUENTA.
EL ePSILON ES MUY PERO MUY BUEN AVION, FLOTA COMO SI NO TUVIERA GRAVEDAD,,,,, SI LO TRAES EN UN RALENTI ALTO Y LO PONES DE CUCHILLO EL AVION SIGE VOLANDO COMO SI NADA....(COMO DECIMOS EN CHILE: ES LA RAJA!)
AL MOTOR DALE TODA LA INCLINACION QUE TE PIDA EL COWLING.

Hola Gringo!!! Te cuento que tengo un Epsilon con un OS FX-91 con una APC 14x8 y la potencia es más que sobrada. Yo no soy un buen piloto, pero te puedo decir que lo estuvo volando Marcelo Colombo y el modelo hace lo que le pidas, y el torque roll lo mantiene a medio motor. Estoy usando servos de 4 kilos en alerones, uno de 6 kilos en elevador y uno de 4,5 kilos en timón.
Te mando algunas fotos para que lo veas.

muy buena la terminación, tus control horns, como lo haces? es fantastico que no se vea ningun tornillo ni anclaje ,NADA.... felicitaciones.- que tipo de bisagras usaste?

Hola ****cano!! antes que nada te agradezco por tus felicitaciones. La terminación del modelo está toda realizada en SuperMonokote de Top Flite. Los horns los hice laminando 6 capas de carbono con resina epoxi y prensadas, quedan con un espesor de 1,2 milÃ*metros y son muy resistentes. No son dos mitades, son de una sola pieza y están pegadas con epoxi dentro de un taco de pino que está insertrado dentro de las superficies móviles. Es verdad, quedan muy prolijas ya que no se ve ninguna fijación. Las dibujé en auto cad y las corté a mano.
Las bisagras que usé son Great Planes de fibra pegadas con ZAP.

The tail wheel is a KLETT assembly, the carbon fiber control horns are made by me (laminated six carbon fiber/epoxi)

Norberto´s Epsilon is one of the best Epsilon I have ever see!!!!!.........................The detail the model has is really impressive!!!.....................He is a professional builder..................I highly recomend his work. To give an idea, now he is working at CAmodel..........awesome airplanes!!!!!!!!!...............

The control Horns are made of 6 layers of Carbon fiber and then I glue each layer with epoxi. To cut the control horns I draw them in Autocad and then print it. After I print the drawing, I put them on the Carbon Fiber and cut. After cutting the control horns I glue them to the plane with Epoxi.

DESPUES DE ESTE FORO VAS A TERMINAR MAS FAMOSO DE LO QUE ERES, REALMENTE CONSTRUYES MUY BONITO.
APROVECHANDO EL FORO, HACE UNA SEMANA COMENCÉ A CONSTRUIR EL EXTRA 27% DE CAMODEL, Y TENGO UNA DUDA CON EL FENOLICO DEL FUSELAGE, YA QUE VIENEN 2 TUBOS, 1 LARGO PARA AMBAS ALAS Y UNO CORTO PARA EL FUSELAGE , PERO ESTE NO ALCANZA DE LADO A LADO DEL FUSELAGE, TENGO QUE PARTIRLO EN 2??? PARA QUE TOME LOS 4 LATERALES DEL FUSELAGE, O SOLAMENTE VA PEGADO AL FUSELAGE CENTRAL (NO CREO), O EN MI KIT SALIO UNO MAS CORTO?

Hola Sergio!!!! Te agradezco tus palabras........pero no soy tan famoso como decÃ*s. Yo trabajo para Camodel y estoy en la construcción de los Génesis (anteriormente con los Eclipse y Fántasy), y también hago las instalaciones y el monokoteado de algunos modelos de ellos.
Te comento con respecto a tu Extra, yo no estoy muy al tanto de la cosntruccion de esos modelos porque como te expicaba antes estoy con los F3A, pero estoy seguro de que el caño central deberia llegar hasta la parte externa de los laterales del fuse. Igualmente te mando una foto donde puede verse éste detalle. Lo voy a consultar en Camodel y te contesto.

hello there, i am gonna get one of these ,would a OS61V rear exhaust (2cycle) with tuned pipe be enough for the advanced shedule?
