Hebert's Shinden

1 Attachment(s)
This will be my next Pattern plane for 2007. Built for a YS 1.60DZ.
I have seen it fly at the Cajun Nats and it's awesome. It will be
sold by BVM Props and should be ready for shipping by the end
of November. Once again Bryan Hebert has designed a one of
a kind look for a pattern plane.[img][/img]

RE: Hebert's Shinden

Saw it fly last weekend and all I can say is smoooth!! It may have been Brian Hebert at the controls that made it look so smooth but the wind was up and it tracked very well. Plane is beautiful and should be quite a nice addition to anyones stable.

According to BVMProps.com, the first shipment of these just arrived from xtreme composites. This is the flyer that is on the xtreme website. I asked Bryan about the colors, he said the one in these pictures was just a prototype, and that the plane will be available in 3 versions, the scheme he flys (see the pics from the Crowley meet), a scheme similar to the one shown here, but with different colors, and also an all-white version. Wish I could afford to get one of these!

RE: Hebert's Shinden

I called BVM Props today (11/10/06) and they told me the Kits will reach the
states in about 6 weeks. That will be the first part of January[:@]
The price will be about $1200. The white one will be less.
If you want one you had better get on the list:D

Now that one I like!

So, when do we get to see one of these production birds fly??

Man thats a sweet Shinden! I wish I owned one... Ha Ha It's funny how fast that pic spread!

I look forward to flying it under electric power soon. Too bad work gets in the way.

BTW the plane looks awesome!

RE: Hebert's Shinden

Jon,
I gotta tell you; the Shinden really does fly pretty good; that is, if you LIKE knife edge snaps to knife edge and stuff like that. I flew it today and it is sorta like MY airplane, just a bit more nimble. Just THINK rudder when you do a slow roll. And yes, my 3D flew today, did good. The Dingo might be overkill, though.

(Just had to tweak you about the Shinden!)

Any pictures of the different schemes? Nothing on BVM's site yet.

The only paint scheme Bryan has was posted already. He's expecting some more from the manufacturer soon.

RE: Hebert's Shinden

Jon,
I have to second what Brian C posted earlier. Bryan H was flying knife-edge flight, snapping, and recovering right back into the knife-edge without missing a beat. Oh yeah, I got to fly the Shinden today too. VERY smoooooooth airplane. The mere thought of rudder input makes it happen for a slow roll, and the thing stall turns like a dream. The worst part of the equation while I had my hands on the sticks was the fact that I was so darn nervous I didn't want to do anything too crazy, but it is really a dream to fly. The 160 DZ never went above 3/4 throttle the whole time I was flying, and it still had vertical for days... anyway, Brian and I really just wanted to brag about the fact that Mr. Hebert was kind enough to let us fly this work of art. I'll have to settle for the Genesis I just bought from Bryan w/ a 140DZ to get through next year, but to quote Mr. Clemmons, "I'd kinda like to have a Shinden."

Is BVM the only source for these in the US?

mjfrederick 11-26-2006 02:12 AM

RE: Hebert's Shinden

As far as I know, right now they are the only US distributor.

RE: Hebert's Shinden

You boys make me sick [:@]!!!! I want to fly that Shinden so bad it's killing me:(.
The only thing I can say is that I am the first one on the list to get one
from BVM Props. The last time I talked with someone from BVM they
told me they were thinking about offering a fantasy paint scheme or even
a costom paint scheme for extra money. I think I will try to get one in
white so I can put my own scheme on it.

RE: Hebert's Shinden

Lemme make you REALLY sick.... I live here; he'll let me fly it again! Seriously, though, I've flown almost everything he's designed all the way back to the original 2C Storm. This one is THE one. I knew it the first time I saw it fly. The maneuver where I knew it, was the horizontal figure eight with intrinsic half rolls. That's when I decided to own one myself. Heck, I just got a 3D flying, and it's a honey. I've seen more than a few 3D's fly; this one is sweeeeet. Harold Collins built it. (With a lot of help from Bryan while I kept the shop swept.) You ought to see it slow roll. Sweeeeet. But nothing is like that Shinden. Mine will be white, with my own paint scheme. But there will be a Shinden standing in my office.

And there's a secret; he's working on a new design, too. I'm not going to wait until it flies to ask for one, either. I already have.

RE: Hebert's Shinden

I don't think I've ever told Bryan this, but I'd kinda like to have a Shinden... :D I wasn't aware that Bryan was cooking up an even newer design. I don't think he'll ever be satisfied... I'll just be happy when I get this Genesis in the air...

Oh, and Jon, I bet if you were to come hang out with us one weekend you might be able to convince Bryan to give you a little stick time...

Guys,

Here's some more info, pricing and the 2 paint schemes. We'll have the scheme #2 on display and hopefully flying (electric powered) at the Tangerine pattern contest next weekend.

Definately looking forward to better weather and the possibility of the unveiling of the Shindin next weekend. Any word from the Integral camp regarding its unveiling ?

Hey Steve,

I think they'll both be out there (Integral & Shinden) next weekend!
And of course the Astral-XX

RE: Hebert's Shinden

Wish I could go to Tangerine, looks like it's gonna be a good contest, and this front that's coming through right now should be gone before then, so the weather should be good. I just count myself lucky that I get to watch the Shinden fly almost every time I go to the field!

Is the wing 2m? That isn't a typo? This is the first new plane in like four+ years to have a 2m wing. For the new sequences?

I was thinking the same thing Adam.

Looks like I will be flying at the Dixie field a little more often. Only 50 min.s from
my house. You boys just remember one thing...... The Shinden is a great
pattern ship, But it's the man behind the sticks that makes the difference.
I look forward to the 2007 pattern season to see who's Shinden fly's the best:D
Bring it on boys !!! And you too Bryan C.;)
