RE: Hebert's Shinden
Hey, Jon...... you shoulda come today. Bryan and I got a dozen flights in, cold air, motors ran strong. We love cold air! Brandon Landry flew the Shinden, too. You shoulda been there.

RE: Hebert's Shinden
I wanted to but I had out of town pilots coming out to fly at our field.
I flew my Patroit and lost the header:( Looks like Brandon L. has a nice Storm Ex. I look forward to seeing what he can do with it next year. I think he will kick some butt ! I hope it's not mine[X(] |
RE: Hebert's Shinden
Y'all went flying in this nasty weather? Actually I wish I could get out there and do some flying... Some of the parts (gasket set & needle valve) for my 140 are on backorder from Central... [:@] I still have to buy a few more things for the Genesis anyway, and since I destroyed the front of my Grand Cherokee on the broad side of a deer last night, I now have bigger fish to fry than getting that plane in the air. Hopefully by mid-February I'll be back out there.

RE: Hebert's Shinden
Anyone running a DZ on the Shinden, curious what pipe setup will fit in it. I like the Hatori short Im running, but have a new escomposites im not using yet.
|
RE: Hebert's Shinden
There's only a couple flying, just yet. The original has a 160DZ with a new short, short pipe, although it was set up for a longer pipe. The BVM model is set up electric, not sure what the prototype composite is set up with. We're waiting for the first shipment, which is en route right now.

RE: Hebert's Shinden
Sorry to hear about the accident, Matt. We're about to gear up big time for the upcoming season. I got six flights in on that COLD day Saturday, would have gotten more, except I had to be at work before six in Zachary. Made me pick up at 4:30, with a bunch of good daylight left, argh! Of course, the motors love cold air; it was a good flying day. We'll be looking for you when you get it all together!

RE: Hebert's Shinden
Looks like my dad is gonna sell me his Tahoe, which would be nice since the Genesis didn't really fit in the Cherokee anyway... plus the Cherokee has over 260,000 miles on it now. I'll see y'all soon... I might even come out with nothing to fly just to hang out... I love the smell of nitro!

RE: Hebert's Shinden
Your right Bryan the YS engines love the cold. My 140L was pulling my plane out of sight.
I only got one flight before I blew a header [>:] Until I get another header all I have to fly is my new electric Brio. It's a good little plane to learn the new 07 pattern. I can fly it in my back yard. By this time next month I should have my new Shinden :D I feel like a junkie looking for my next fix. |
RE: Hebert's Shinden
I just checked the tracking # at Fedex and my Shindens will be here sone they have just arrived in the States
I will start a seperate page on building and setup, and triming as soon as it arrives Extreme composites has built a fine kit and were a pleasure to work with cant wait to start next season Bryan |
RE: Hebert's Shinden
Fantastic !
I hope mine is not far behind yours. I look forward to reading your thread. Jon |
RE: Hebert's Shinden

Second attempt; I recently left Bryan, and took these pictures. He was carefully measuring to see if the Shinden had been built to his exact specs; you all know how precise he is! Therefore, I will leave Bryan's comments for himself to post. Here are some photos....

All for tonight, I gotta work tomorrow! Brian Clemmons |
RE: Hebert's Shinden
That thing is freaking gorgeous!!! If Bryan feels like making a donation, I think I could move all my equipment from the Genesis to the Shinden!!! Seriously, though, it's awesome to see one of his designs being mass-produced, it's been a long time coming, and Bryan has without a doubt earned his stripes to be one of the top designers in modern pattern... Great design, great looking kit... I'd kinda like a Shinden! Can't wait to see that thing at the field... from what I've seen it probably won't take him too long to get that thing ready to fly!
|
RE: Hebert's Shinden
Looks very nice! Would it be possible for you to post the weights of each component?
|
RE: Hebert's Shinden
Oh, one question, since I haven't seen this thing up close yet... How do you feel the paint job compares to other ARF's? I know the paint on my Genesis is brittle as all get-out, and I've heard rumors of it not being very fuel proof... will this one take a little abuse, or will putting a DZ in the front of one of these be like turning a bull loose in a china shop?
|
RE: Hebert's Shinden
The Shinden is produced by the same people that made my OTOP and the paint job is very good
on the OTOP so I would assume it is as good or maybe even better on the Shinden. Very smooth with no detectable seams at the color changes. It will chip so any holes or cuts need to be done with a dremel cutting wheel or sanding drum. After a year with a DZ in the nose the paint is holding up with no problems on the OTOP. tommy s |
RE: Hebert's Shinden
I just receved an email from David Shulman at BVM Props.
He told me they are awaiting arrival of the container, should be next week. |
RE: Hebert's Shinden
is it just the camera or is there a detectable seam where it looks like the fuselage halves come together.
|
RE: Hebert's Shinden
Which picture are you refering to? I see the seam inside, but there isn't one showing in any of the photos OUTSIDE, and I took the photos. Being as the model is painted in the mold, it is impossible NOT to have some sort of seam, I guess I'm missing the point of the question?
