CA HINGES
Hello!, Happy New Year!
Please can anyone tell me results on using CA hinges on 2m ships, do they hold?, weight saving? I´ve always used DU-BRO Hinges, but i think I can save a little weight, and the CA Hinges are a lot easier to install. |
RE: CA HINGES
I just changed out from metal hinges on my Exceleron to CA.
CA hinges are just fine properly installed, they will last a very long time. There are a lot of opinions out there, |
RE: CA HINGES
I like CA higes but use only the heavy duty ones sold at Radio South. Been in my plane for about two years with no problems.

RE: CA HINGES
Ditto...Radio South Pro Hinges are the only way to go. They are just little blue rectangles, no fancy corners or slots or nothing, but are tough as nails.

I ran the blues in a punished 34% Extra with 0 problems.

RE: CA HINGES
Been using them for years. After a mishap last year with my Eclipse and the ground the hinges were intact and pulled wood from the structure. I have never had any prblems using them.

RE: CA HINGES
Been using the Radio South sense the 80's with no problems, the only thing I would add is use fresh new thin CA.

RE: CA HINGES
Thanks guys, how about the great planes CA Hinges?, to get the radio south I wil have to order them and ship all the way here (Venezuela), and the great plane ones I can buy them in the local shop, any diferences?

RE: CA HINGES
Great Plane Ca hinges I've seen seperate or delaminate the Radio south is the best there is and the original ca hinge. Your taking chances with anything else.

RE: CA HINGES
A quick test of CA hinges is to grasp one with two pliers butted together in the center - then pry the pliers against each other to attempt to tear the hinge. Many will tear easily (Radio South Pro Hinges won't).
