Any flight reports? Do you have any planes to compare it with?

Hello, I just finished a Spot On 50. Put a OS 61 on it. No flights yet because of the weather. I will keep you posted.

Flight Report:

This is the Best Flying Airplane I have at the moment. Great Flying caracteristics + the 61 is perfect for it. The plane will end up being nose heavy. Total dry weight was 6.0 lbs but I had to add 2 oz in the back to get it to the recommended CG (117mm). I had to use the Spinner they supPLY + A Top-Flite wood propeller to reduce the nose weight. DOWN SIDE: Some of the decoration came off on the first flight (triangles on Stabilizer, left side) which is not a big deal, but really sucks. The Landing Gear is EXTREMALY heave, I will replace it with CF once I find it. You have to through away the screws they supply for you to use as axles (thats a no-brainer). I did all that my heart let me handle on the first two flights ( Knife edge are rock-solid no coupling, Snaps, Square Loos, Triangle Loops, All the snaps you can imagen).

Great Flying Airplane, I will start looking at 120 in a few weeks.

Best Regards

What design is on the bottom? Does it have a airfoiled stab? Are the wings and stab plug-in and adjustable?

The wings and stab are Glued in place. The Stab as well as the rudder have an airfoil. Here is a picture of the bottom of the wing.

ducati996, Thanks for the info. I'm trying to make up my mind what I want to buy. I didnt consider the spot on because I thought the wing area was kinda small. What is the wing loading on your plane?

DUCATI996 06-12-2007 09:09 AM

RE: World models spot on 50

Antique:

With the OS 61 the total weight goes up to 6 lbs making the wing loading 25.668 oz/sq ft. At 5.3lbs, like they advertise, the wing loading would be 22.673 oz/sqft.

I would like to show you some pictures of my radio set-up. I knew that my airplane was going to be nose heavy so move the radio as far as I could. Here a two pictures of the set-up. Hope this helps you on your set-up. From the picture I just notice that you can not tell, but the batery and the radio are actually under the Rudder servo tray( to the left and to the right of the servo).

Thanks so much for this info. Mine is on the way. Is there room for a header and pipe in the belly using a OS61 RF or OS61SF or a ST61XE?

Regards,

- Michael

Nice looking plane! i am getting one soon and doing a Brushless conversion :D I have a World model Skyraider Mach 2 which i have converted to electric and it flies great!
this model could run the same sort of power system. Will let you know how i go and post up pics once done!

RE: World models spot on 50

MNATION:

With the OS61 the plane is nose heavy. I had to add 2oz to the tail to make it balance and had to use a plastic spinner. The wing load is already high the way I have it, so I would guess that using a tune pipe will make heavier. ABout having enough space on the belly pan I could not say because I have never use one. I have 15 flights on it and it is really good. The vertical performance with a 13x6 is good but is not unlimited. I will continue using other props to use how the engine performs.

Would love to hear about your electric conversion.

What setup do you have planned to use ?

I will try mine with the YS63S, you can probably buy three of this aircraft for the engine price, but when I replaced my OS61 with that one, wow, it is 200gr lighter and has at least 30% more power in my opinion.

i plan to use the same set up which is in my sky raider only difference isa that i will use a biger prop to get more power.
The set up is fairly cheap and very effective.
Set up is

Hextronic 50-55B 600 KV Motor
http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDH...idProduct=4907

hexTronik PRO 80A BESC w/ PC Programmability
http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDH...idProduct=4315

HXT D9 4100mAh 4S 15-25C Lipoly Pack
https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITED...idProduct=4129

i am runnig a 13X10APC-E Prop which gives me around 600-650Watts of power and average of 43amps. Thats at full throttle but most of my flying is done at half throttle and i get around 10-15mins flying times with no hassle of nitro motors and no cleaning up :D

i will probly run a 15X8 OR 14X8 OR 14X10 Prop to get a little more Power around the 750-800 mark maybe more. as i am going for performance over long run times.

If you have any other questions feel free to shoot them my way.
