Attached are several pictures of the new fully composite Fliton Element 170. I think you'll all love this plane!!! Details on the plane are as follows:

Two versions (electric and glow), adjustable stab incidence, adjustable main wing incidence, 2-piece main wing and horizontal stab w/carbon tube, carbon/fiberglass/balsa sandwich construction and all painted. You may get to see the plane at the Nats... piloted by a top pilot! :D

Contact Fliton for more details:

RE: Fliton Element 170

If it's around the cost of the Integral it's definately a candidate for next season's plane.

I like that they made the wing and stab adjustable (unlike the Integral).

Derek

Can it accomodate a 2C and tuned pipe? Looks like a short belly pan like the integral.

Are the wing panels also composite?

Any pics of the internals?

I just noticed the address of Fliton. I work about 5 miles from their office. I think I'll have to pay a visit. I'd like to see this one.

I just talked to Edson, and the quality will be on par with the Japanese models, but priced competitively.

RE: Fliton Element 170

I talked to Fliton today. The price has not been set as yet but they said it
will be around $1700.00 --$2000.00 . Delivery time estimated to be 2-3 months. They
said some modifications to the prototype are in the works. Composite fuselage,
balsa sheeted foam wings, no film...entire airplane glassed and painted. Should be very
high quality.
They will post all the information here on RCU as soon as it is available.

How do you get on a "waiting list"? I'd really like to do that, but it's not listed on the Horizon site yet and don't know where to go. Thanks in advance. John

WOW . . looks nice. The ailerons look HUGE ! ! . . maybe Fliton have an insight into the upcoming schedules and rolling harriers and hovering is part of it . . PO9 or 11 maybe ?? :D

Tried the "contact us" section of their site, but haven't heard anything back. Guess there busy putting out the kits for the Element 30 and Inspire 90. Do they sell direct or do you have to go through a LHS or Horizon, etc.? John

While at the NATS I was told Mark Leseberg was supposed to fly it, but unfortunately he broke his foot I believe right before the NATS and couldn't make it.

Thanks Arch, I was curious who the mystery pilot was and if the plane made its big debut. I'm always ready for a new pattern plane siting and report.

I have the same question as well, I'd love to pick one up, even if they are $2,500 per! Only other choice right now would be the Inspire 90, but since I already have a 60, would rather get this one.

I believe Derek Koopowitz, Nsrca President, learned at the IMS show that it will be out soon.. Look for details in an upcoming Kfactor.. At least, that's what he put in his Feb Kfactor article..

RE: Fliton Element 170

The Element 170 will hopefully be available by mid-year. It is undergoing some additional refinements to make it even a better flying plane. Unfortunately the original one that came here last year crashed due to radio interference at a field down in the LA area - someone turned their radio on accidentally - so flight reports on the plane are unavailable - thus delaying the completion of the production run.

I was at a contest with a guy affiliated with them this weekend.. He said August is when they get here. Then they are hand painted here..
There is also the wood 170 version that will be here sooner I believe.. $600 I was told..

We'll see though..

Wood version, now we are talking!

patternflyer1 06-09-2008 02:03 PM

RE: Fliton Element 170

I agree. Looking forward to both actually though..

On another note, I own a Mini Inspire and really like it.. I won a Inspire 90 this weekend at the contest raffle.. I opened it last night.. They quality is like no other wood arf I have seen. Covering is very, very nice. No wrinkles.. I put the stab and wings on.. They are straight with each other.. I'm very impressed.. And most of you know how picky I am.. lol :D
If the Element wood arf is as nice and light as this Inspire for $600, I will get a few..

Still, I'll wait patiently for a great Fliton quality finish on these...

Sounds interesting.

A wood (and covered?) version for $600 . . could be the BEST entry level 2M plane ever produced ???

They will sell a load . .
