Anthony how do you get away with having a JR sticker on your plane while building at Mark Atwoods house? Dang that must be killing him!
Awesome looking job. Too bad that it's not in the air already but hey we've all been there and done that. It's just a shame to be building when the weather is finally turning so nice. Escpecially for those of us that live in the north. Please keep us posted with the progress. Mike

Hey Anthony, Looks great man, glad you got your graphics and clear done.

All - I cut Anthony a LA-1 type canopy spary mask line, I used a similar mask on my current project. So I am looking forward to his results with that. He should get it today so I bet we see something soon from Anthony.

And All....

I just want to let you all know just how much happiness this thread gives me. To see all these great projects come to life out there is so satisfying and enjoyable. I enjoy "reaching out" and helping. I have had the best teachers in the sport/hobby, I have learned from the best with the promise to share everything. There are no secrets in my shop, and I am always open to learning new things, there is always something new to try, something to experiment with and something to share.

This is has been my experience with this hobby since I was a kid and the "old guys" taught me how to fly RC. It's all about sharing and giving, having fun and smiling. We can all be friends, share our experiences and be proud of each other accomplishments. WE are all friends here and that is awesome!

YES - it sure seems like this Black Magic "Love Fest" we've got going on here is spreading. I am just happy to be a part of it all....

I just want to thank everybody for this excellent life experience !

YOU GUYS ROCK !!!!!

I heard Mike was going to take all Black Magic owners for a big steak dinner one night.....oh yea..then I woke up. Sounds like it will be a good time. My airplane will be there, but unfortunately I wont be.

A picture of all the planes is nice...a picture of all the planes with some hardware would be even better. Just burn lots of fuel and I think there will be several BM's bringing home some hardware,

Ditto to the last few posts.

If outsiders could feel the warmth and sportsmanship within the pattern community there would be a waiting list to fly at competitions. On the other hand, it takes a special passionate breed to do what we do and it has been my sorry pleasure to share these experiences with you.

Thanks to all!

Hey Anthony...

I bit the bullet and finally let go of a Temptation kit and true to my word I punished myself with a BM VF3. Unlike the Temptation, I promised Mike I'll actually build this one. Mark said you might have a few pointers for me as this will be my first build as well. Not planning for it this year, but hopefully ready for next season...

Lisa told me I had to build this one... ;)

I think Mike got a kick out of me picking this up on the way home from family vacation in Pensacola. One mini-van, three kids, two adults, two boogy boards, one PS2 play station all the luggage a cooler and then we picked up the VF3 Kit...It all fit...LOL...Then we stopped to buy Fireworks...Now that got interesting with another 5 hour drive...But home safe and sound. Got to finish a plane on the bench, then we'll get started on this thing...

This is a great thread, but Lisa will never let me buy a painted canopy from Dean...I'll settle for the Red Bow...***Ooops Lisa corrected me when she read this***...I meant to say I prefer the Red Bow...vbg...

See Ya...

Mike, thanks for taking the time to deliver the kit on my way through town...

My better half is the opposite. She want's me to do a canopy like Dean's.. lol

I wonder if the canopy is the only part of the model with the machine gun wielding babe? lol

Cheers
Jason.

I can feel the love in this room too. How about initiating the new guy with one of those unbuilt pattern kits you have sitting in the corner?:D

I just had to...

RE: Black Magic VF3 Build Thread

Larry,
Welcome to the BLack Magic family. It is a very straight forward build. If I can build it ANYONE can! That is not to say that I didn't learn a few things along the way or do some things that I should have done differently, but it is extremely straight forward and well designed. The fuselage aligns itself and you have to work pretty hard to build it crooked. Sheeting the cores is done just like any other foam core airplane.

If you run into any issues during your build call me and I can either tell you what Mark and I did, ask Mark if I can't remember, or send you one of the gajillion pictures I took along the way.

Larry,

You will love the plane. Just follow the setup procedures when done that Mike and I have worked out and you'll love it. The plane trims easier than any airplane I've ever owned. I've helped trim 3 of them now and they all seem to trim almost identical.

The old faitful 1.60 died 30 foot obove the runway on take off, not enought air speed to land but in the bushs.

Jason Arnold 07-06-2008 04:48 PM

RE: Black Magic VF3 Build Thread

Bugger! That sucks big time...

The OS 1.60 is normally such a reliable easy going engine. I use one in my Yak and pull straight up into a hover on take off. You don't attempt that unless you have confidence in your engine believe me...

Are you going to repair the model?

Cheers
Jason.

Not going to put good money after bad. It is free for the picking up to who ever gets here first.

Jason Arnold 07-06-2008 05:41 PM

RE: Black Magic VF3 Build Thread

It looks easily repairable to me and would cost bugger all. If you can build the model then a repair should be a walk in the park. Your wings and stab etc look undamaged so that's a big plus.

I wouldn't be giving up on it just yet mate.

Cheers
Jason.

Ummm.....

Well it definitely looks salvagable, not sure about the weight....that's a lot of glue on that thing....

Sorry you couldn't get that engine running right, I would have helped but I know absolutely nothing about that set up and engine at all.
