Stream 50 What engine???

I just got the new Stream 50 pattern plane. I have a couple engines in my position right now OS 46 FX, Rossi 45, YS 63 4 stroke. I want to know what engine will work the best w/ this plane, even if it's not on my list. Here is the spec for the plane

Fuse Length 55.51 inches
Wing Length 53.94 inches
Weight 5.29 lbs - 5.73 lbs
Engine size .53 4C - .63 4C

YS 63 would be perfect!

2-stroke

I thought the two stroke might work better on the pattern plane...... , I guess Rossi w/ tunned pipe would be too much :( Thanks

P.S. I am trying to save YS 63 for Kyosho Gee Bee .40 witch should arrive soon...... :D

Sea Bee

CHassan,

We should talk again in the couple weeks, after you will bring this plane to the air. I was going to buy that plane, but I got the very good deal on the Stream 50. If something goes wrong I would get Sea Bee without any doubt. You have to put Rossi on that plane. ;) you whould not be disappointed.

Good luck.

I'm sure I wouldn't, but the MDS is just laying around, If I don't like it .........well then I might have to splurge and buy me a Rossi

I have YS63 in my Stream 50 and it pulls the snot out of it. I'd say the plane is overpowered with the YS63... you could easily get away with a lot less power if you wanted too.

cheers

Overpower

No, I would definitely want to have an extra boost......so far I overpower all my planes, this one should not be an exception. :D Thank you

I like the Rossi .45's. They pull real good. The only problem is the mess that they leave, more than most other glow engines!!

I'd buy an Irvine .53, or maybe an OS 50. There are other good choices too, but the irvine is a simple, cheap and good choice.

Question???

What you guys think about Saito 56? It's light and should be producing enough power for the plane......I hope... Please let me know. Thank you.

Try a Super Tigre G-51 ring. It's in stock at tower hobbies for $109 and the muffler is said to be so good you won't need a pipe. I had a G34 ringed ST once and it was an exeptionally nice engine.

Thanks Jon

The cowl on this plane is too good to be cut for 2 stroke engine muffler. On this plane I can use ether 4-stroke or 2 stroke w/ tunned pipe. Thank you.

Stream 50 What engine???

I had and sold on a Stream 50 Hi Perf. Now have the Stream 90 Hi Perf. I used a YS63 with a flexi manifold and a small torpedo muffler. Looked really great on the plane. I then changed to a small 4 stroke pipe that took the whole bay beneath. It sounded like a sewing machine and went like stink. Bags of power for AA and '3D' stuff with the APC FF paddle prop. The 63 is a great match though might be a bit oo much power. The YS 53 might be just perfect. As for Two Stroke, well.. you really want to cut that cowl up?

Born2Fly 05-18-2003 11:10 PM

Thanks

No way, I would not cut that cowl. I decided to buy a Saito 56. I think I can go with the regular muffler, only what I need it's a drill hole in the cowl, but NO CUTTING. Thanks for reply. Good luck.
