9ZAP Condition Trim problems...

Im sure this should be simple to fix...but its avoiding me so far!

I am trying to setup a 'spin' condition but when I flick the condition on, one of the elevator trims is changing.
I am using 2 elevator servos plugged into channels 2&5 (ailvator) I have gone into the trim menu and done the combined/seperate trim setup for the elevator channel but the servo plugged into channel 5 is still moving when I operate the condition.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Also I have setup a program mix for throttle to elevator. I have setup 2 program mixes to account for the 2 elevator servos, is there anyway of doing it with just one program mix?

Thanks in advance,
Jason

When you flip a switch, your ATV may change, it happened to my 9ZAP before.

Go to your ele ATV screen and find out whether the value changes when the switch is activated.

Hope this help.

Hi, I use only one mix, no need to setup another one. What kind of mix have you turned on for the dual elevators? I use AILEVATOR and only one mix (* -> channel 2) is needed.

I am running several contitions on my 9Z, you should check the sub-trim programming by cycling between your contition switches. If the percentages are different by channel this will affect where your trims are in each condition. Everytime I make an adjust in the sub-trims, I have to adjust the condition as well.

Hope this helps!

One important note: if the pots become worn on that particular transmitter, it will do exactly what you are describing...and only get worse. And worse.....ask me how I know. 2 days before my first nats ever....LOL

Food for thought. But this is more than likely the source of your problem, I've seen it many times before on that radio....especially the elevator trim.

Huuuuummmmmmmmmm,.......did not know that!
I had enough problems at the NATS last year for my first time, don't need any this year,..if I even go. The cost of gas pulling a campers gonn'a hurt the wallet.

Appreciate the info Mike.

For the mix, there should be a LNK button on the bottom of the screen, right hand side I think (been a while since I was into my zap mixing screen!). That will pass the mix to the slave along to further mixed channels, like dual aileron and elevator. If you are not linked you will not get an arrow in the main screen.

In the main mix screen it should appear like this

THR ELE ->

That means you are linked to anything else mixed to the ele channel...which happens to be your other elevator :)

For the trim, as already stated, make sure ATV's/ sub-trims match across the conditions, also make sure your trims are set to CMB, and do not change when moving conditions.....if a trim is set to SEP it can change with conditions. If all that is good, then Mike is right......your radio needs service :)

Another heads up on the Zap, I had a glitching problem in PCM mode, that destroyed my Edge, it did not go into fail safe just glitched into the ground, I sent the Tx for a service and was told that the two copper wiper blades inside the ball gimble in the top of the Tx that make the final connection to the antenna had corroded, these are the things you can feel click into place when you pull up the final section of the antenna, dosn't matter now as I have got rid of the antenna.
