First pattern plane questions
 

I previously asked here what would be a good ARF pattern plane for around $300 - $500 dollars and got some really good suggestions. THANKS!!

I plan on ordering a pattern plane next week for sure. Based on the recommendations I think I'll go with either of these planes:

or

the [link=http://www.modelflight.com.au/sebart/sebart_angel_50.htm]SebArt Angel S Evo 50E[/link] at about the same price with shipping from the uk.

I'd appreciate any comments on which would be a better choice and why. I realize the Remedy is a 2M plane but the SebArt seems to be a better plane overall - just my impression.

I plan on making whichever one I choose an electric. Would they be comparable in price when doing so?

Hey Jim,

I've not flown either, but I'm confident the Angel will be superior. The requirements of 3D are pretty much orthogonal to the requirements of pattern... any attempted hybrid will be a compromise. I know some guys with the Angel and they speak highly of it.

P.S. Just a heads up about something you are probably already aware... the image you linked of the Angel is the 2M version. The Angel you are looking at is quite a bit smaller.

I just got a Koyosho Osmose 70 but not flown it yet..I'm new to "modern" pattern aircraft and have very little "expertise" to pass along.. ;)

(note: I think they can be found cheeper than advertised on Koyosho's website from various retailers)

Both are smaller planes but apparently fly very well..I have read they fly like a 2m ship..The Osmose is noticeably bigger than the Oxalys and has allot of fuselage side area...I'm looking forward to flying that one for sure.. :D

It's not the 2-meter, both the picture and the link show the 50-size version. The 50-size Angel is a little bit bigger than the Kyosho Osmose and Oxalys and is lighter and better suited for electrics with top hatch for battery change etc.

The Modeltech 120 is a lot heavier and will cost you double to power it properly. With the Angel, go with the recommended Hacker setup which is plug and play but make sure you use a 6S Battery, 5S is not enough for F3A manouvers with that size plane.

The Sebart Angel 50 is amazing. She goes where you point it. KE has hardly any coupling at all. It will KE all day without need to mix. :)

The Angel 50 flies every bit as good as any quality 2 meter airplane I've flown. I would have a look at that if I were you, and that's the only one I can reccomend as I've not had any experience with any of the other aircraft mentioned.

They tell me the Sebart Wind 110 is even better than the Angel, I ordered mine, will be here soon.

Hey Chuck,
Could you give any info on this Fortuna? Could it make weight? Does it have wing or stab adjusters? A pipe tunnel? Is the hardware good and usable? I have been flying an Evolution for a couple seasons now and would this be a step up. Is this a step up or sideways? The price is very reasonable but the website doesn't give enough info.

Chuck Hochhalter - Have you actually seen the Fortuna 140? If so, what's the quality of the arf and hardware like?



Chuck - Atlanta 60 - How much is the Osmose 70EP. Can't seem to find the info at your link http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/airplan...view=techspecs Is it only a 55" wingspan?

also you dont have to order the angel shadow from the UK you can order the ARF from Fedon aircraft.

Supposedly Fedon is out of stock for 2 months, and I heard the cost for the plane shipped to US is somewhere around $620.

Yeah I can't find it either...However after reading all the other guys comments it doesn't look like such a good candidate anyway (too small/too heavy)

Looks like there are better alternatives.. ;)

Fedon Aircraft appears to be out of business. The webisite no longer exists. Sept 2009, in another forum, someone said that they paid Fedon $275 for a Sebart plane that they never received, and found out that Sebart was no long shipping their planes to Fedon because of $$$ problems.

Esprit Model now handles SebArt in the US. I got a plane from them no problem. I heard Fedon was a crook.

Congrats Joe,

You'll LOVE it. Get a Haker motor + some "el-cheapo" ESC and batteries from HK and you are good to go. Here is what I use on my Angle:
