Pattern Foamy (outdoor) suggestions...???
Gents, I'm looking into a foamy to fly at the local park... I've seen some of the indoor stuff but wanted to catch-up on what's available for outdoor flying...
Are there decent kits available or are you guys cutting your own? Also, which motor/esc/battery combo is working for ya? Thanks! |

The only foamy I've found that approaches a pattern like feel is the Mobius from Airfoilz.....It flies very well ...for a foamy.
For other small electric pattern like ships, the Element 30 gets my vote over the more popular Vanquish. G |

The Black Magic foamy that Dean Funk is doing is a lot of fun. It is heavy enough for outdoors in light to resasonable winds. You can reach him at deanfunk.com

Arch, do you recall what esc/motor/battery was used in the Black Magic foamy you've flown?
|
RE: Pattern Foamy (outdoor) suggestions...???
I'll have to look. I was using the cheap turnigy stuff. Actually my entire setup was really cheap. Worked fine. I was flying 3S 1100mah packs and it would fly in whatever wind I felt like throwing it out in.

If you could check into the specific parts (esc (does it have a built in bec?), motor, rx) you used on your foamy and let me know, I'd appreciate it!

I admit I didn't look at the other suggestion, but as a happy owner of the Macrobat I will humbly add this to the list of contenders:

Any of you guys ever seen a Clik-X?:D
SPECS: Clik-X (34") AUW: 11oz. MicroDan 2505-3D Pheonix 10 Fusion-Pack 600mah 11.1v 25c battery GWS 9 x 5 HD prop Castle Creations 6v UBEC 3 x Futaba 3154 servos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsQ5h...eature=related Took me and my builder buddy many different prototype revisions to get it to where it is today. Its based off of the indoor clik from the Czech Republic and i have morphed its original design in many ways to make it into an outdoor version that i believe to be an amazing flying plane for both 3d and pattern. I give my builder buddy (Jason T.) all the credit in the world for the wicked construction and help with design changes that needed to be made in order to get its current amazing flight characteristics. I havent flown an outdoor foamy yet that compares. Check out the youtube link.. Blake H. |
RE: Pattern Foamy (outdoor) suggestions...???
Blake, do you know if there are plans or instructions avail for the Clik-X?
Thx Woodie |
RE: Pattern Foamy (outdoor) suggestions...???
Woodie, I've got another question to ask Blake after he answers yours. Is the Clik X the same plane as the Clik that NSP
is selling? The NSP Clik appears to be smaller, as in 4-5 oz AUW! Blake's I believe has an AUW of 11 oz. Just thought I would seek some clarification. I would also like to know who might be marketing the larger version.Regards___TNWalker |
