RE: ZN Line Xigris
Just been out flying my "C2" with new wings, they are almost like "C1" but 1 cm wider in root and ! less in tipp, airfoil is 10% both root and tipp.
model seems easyer to fly the tail wigling that I had with C2 was gone stallturns easyer but snaprolls a bit slower...need to play a bit with trows here. My first impression is that this was more the way to go! Project for winter is to install a brand new Hacker Q 60 that I jst found in my workshop....wonder who put that there!! |

ORIGINAL: Rune install a brand new Hacker Q 60 that I jst found in my workshop....wonder who put that there!! I've been flying a wing design with a chord ratio of 3:1 for more than 8 years, starting with retrofitted Alliance wing. Small tips and wide roots are beneficial in many ways in pattern flight. But I am not talking 1 cm here or there tho. I am saying 10 cm wider at the root and 8 cm narrower at the tip. For starters, MAC (and wing AC) are brought closer to the fuse center line by about 12% which reduces response to wind turbulence. A 10% section is a good thickness for all around flying. I prefer thinner at the tip and currently use 8%.....really makes snap rolls a breeze with minimum pilot effort, especially the exit. That's just two benefits; there are a bunch more |
