Cold hands? You need a hot box.
Everybody likes a hot box..
A transmitter mitt is OK but a hot box is far better, best thing I've ever built for RC.
It's a heated styrofoam transmitter box.
Hand holes sealed with cut up gloves velcroed on, to remove for washing.
Large gauge wire with 12 volt car plug
100 watt heater made with lm317's bolted to a heatsink and fan. (8 amp load)
Baseboard thermostat to prevent overheating
Throttlehold switch (for nitro)
Spring loaded hand doors on inside
Great tx box, keeps hands toasty hot on very cold days.

The external linkage is for throttlehold ( for nitro starting safety). Need mechanical stop to prevent switch from breaking if external lever gets banged.

A peltier device? I don't understand how you would apply this to the hot box. Can you elaborate on your idea?

RE: Cold hands? You need a hot box.
I went to a Jet meet in Winamac, Indiana, several years ago, in October. It was held at a model airfield on the grounds of the Ralph Braun Corporation. Ralph Braun was handicapped and bound to a wheelchair. He was an avid RC Flyer and had a box built to shield him from the cold and still give him 360 degrees of visibility. It was constructed of clear plexiglass, with a gas heater installed. The entrance was made of strips of plastic that kept out the cold but allowed easy accessibility. The box could hold at least 6 persons and was mounted on a motorized frame that could be easily towed by one person.
No matter what the outside temp, it was 80 deg inside the box. It was at least 7ft tall.
