Default Channel change

I have crashed 3 times now because of radio interference. I was flying with one other person and he has had no problems. The field I fly at is right next to the Fire Department, could their radio cause interference? We did notice that a few minutes after I crashed they went out on a call. The field is also right next to a highway. Could radio traffic such as CBs cause interference? I am considering changing channels. My radio is a HiTech 4 channel 72Mhz on channel 54. Can I just buy new crystals for the transmitter and receiver that are near my current channel or do I have to send it back to the manufacturer to be changed. I bet it would cost nearly as much as I paid for the radio to have it changed over by them. Any suggestions folks?
