Default DC 6V-12V Momentary/Single Channel Remote Control usage questions

I am a newb to the RC world and dived in rebuilding/modifying older cars/trucks.. My question is it possible to use a monetary wireless receiver and control like this (http://www.12vmonster.com/products/d...6-volt-12-volt) with an older 27MHz or 49MHz Radio Shack RC car?

The reason, I would like to add an additional function using separate power supply to the car and not have to buy/setup new remote/receiver to working rc..

Any help greatly appreciated
