Default Futaba 10J, Spektrum DX8 or Graupner MZ-18?

I am getting back in the hobby after a 3 year break and need advise on a new transmitter. I flew with the Futaba 8J and never had an issue. I am wondering if the DX8 and MZ-18 offer any advantanges over the 10J. Also are there cheaper aftermarket receivers available for the 10J or the MZ-18 or will I be stuck paying higher prices for the Futaba/Graupner brands? I fly 40-60 nitro so dont care for the BNF feature. Thanks in advanced.

Best regards,
Ed

I used the 8J then upgraded to the 10J mainly to get the 30 airplane memory. I just don't care for Spektrum for many reasons, and Futaba has been 100% reliable for me over the last 30 years or so. Before that used Kraft and EK. You can get cheap FHSS rxs (I have tried and work very well) here - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/orangerx...-and-sbus.html

Ronwc, thank you for the advise, I loved my 8J as well and was really looking at the 10J, however yesterday I decided to check Craigslist and came across a gentleman that bought a plane from a fellow club member with a Futaba T10CAP with Futaba 2.4 Module. This gentleman flies Spektrum. The 10CAP had the rudder stuck to the left which is why he was asking $50 with a Futaba 7 ch rx. I walked away with it for $40 and after cleaning around the trim tab, it now functions perfectly 😊
So after such deal, I will keep this one for a while since according to reviews its one of the best ones a few years back.
Thanks
Best regards,
Ed

The 10CAP is a nice unit. I have a 9C and a 10C. They are sooooo easy to program and I have had ZERO issues with either of them.

Thanks David, it is indeed pretty simple.
Pilotpete2, thats why I jumped on it. The rx alone sells for $79 at Tower.

Best regards
