Lipol and ESC question

Are the ESC different for a brushed motor , and a brushless motor? I want to use the brushed motors now and buy brushless later. Will the same ESC work with both motors? Also the battery ? Thank you

No, brushed motors have a positive and negative lead

brushless have 3 leads are are pulsed sequentially in a circle is the best way i can describe it, to drive the motor
