Default Gears for a Futaba 9402 servo

I stupidly broke the little platic gear in my metal geared 9402 servo. Does anyone know where I can find just that one gear? Servo City doesn't carry them and Tower wants a whopping $57 for the replacement set of gears (which are still good). Any help would be appreciated.

www.futabarc.com has a chart on the site somewhere cross-referencing the plastic gears in metal gear sets with the gears from plastic gear sets. Use it to figure which plastic gearset has the gear you need.

The trouble is not all metal geared servos have plastic gears that are available in a plastic gear package. In that case call the Futaba service center and complain. They will send you the one you need.

Futaba routinely uses a plastic gear for the second gear.
It seems that the 9202, 9303, 9201, and 9402 all ue the same plastic second gear.

The 9206 also uses the same gear. They have a good reason for using a plastic gear for the second gear but I can't remember off hand. You can also get the gear totally by itself. I would bet the digitals of the same size an power use it as well, such as the S9151.

How do you get it by itself?
I just ordered 6 sets because I usually break that gear a couple of times a year!

The first and second gear in the Futaba metal gear servos I have are plastic. That may be OK for flight loads but if you happen to hit the control on the ground or something the plastic gears are gone. I guess that is the way Futaba planned it. If so Futaba should make the gears available separately. Thats why I complain. The digital servos I have are only available in a $50 gear set or from the service center. Right now I have 13 of the plastic gears so maybe I will be OK for awhile.

Here are the 1st and third gears for the S9206, I'm sure they adapt to other Futaba servos as well.
HSP78224 T 1M11K20701 S9206 1ST GEAR $1.52 each
HSP78226 1M15E12001 S9206 3RD GEAR 4.86 each

This might come too late, but www.rcheli.com has just the first plastic black gear for 9402, $2.05.
