You can't go wrong with either of the two. I owned a Fash X 5 and still have many Hitec servos and RXs and never had any problems with any of them . Great entry level computer radios. You might consider the Fash X 5 for the extra memory and fith channel , which may come in handy in the future . As with any computer radio it takes a little while to get used to programming it.

I have the flash 5, as do many guys where I fly. I like it. I agree that at first the programming is a little intimidating, but I've written myself a little cheat sheet that I keep in my field box. I don't think there is anything like it for the money. Once you have one, you'll never go back to a non-computer radio. The digital trims alone are worth the cost. When I fly with a non-computer radio, the other feature I really miss is the flight timer.

Before you buy, you can look at the manual at www.hitecrcd.com, so you'll know what you're getting in to.

I have the 4, wish I would have bought the 5 now, when I bought it, I thought I would never want dual rates, and the other features. Now I have to buy the 5x also.

Default Get the 5 (or a 4 and convert it).

Flash 5
Channels
1: Aileron
2: Elevator
3: Throttle or Flap
4: Rudder
5: Gear or Aileron/Elevon or Flap/Flaperon function (Flash 5 only).

I find it's really nice to have channel 5 for going Spoileron on my HLG to slow it down for landing.

I enlarged the wing servo hole on my LT-40 ARF and used two aileron servos so I try a little flaperon/spoileron.
