Default Fixing frayed Antenna

I have a freind that has an RX with a Frayed antenna right where it comes out the Rx. He removed the case to expose the frayed area, and hit it with some solder. It seems to be holding, Do you think this is OK? Daz...

The solder may cause it to break even quicker. All of the stress will be at the point where the solder ends.

Since he can solder, just replace the whole thing. Just cut a piece of small wire the same length as the original

Don't take chances. Send it in to a reputable service location. Many pilots like the services of Radio South. Let the experts take care of of this most critical repair.

You gave him GOOD advice. The stiffened area will fail .

Default Fixing frayed Antenna

Just buy a new antenna wire at the LHS ($1.29), Desolder the old one, and solder the new one in. Takes 5 minutes if you can solder... Good Luck
