Default 9Z newbie question--first of many, I'm sure...

Looking to hit the ground running. In over my head.

Ailerons in 1 and 6.

right knob driving flaps; I didn't do that. Just worked that way on set-up.

Can't make the flaps droop (deflect downward together as flaps)

Can anyone enlighten me as to how to set this condition up?

Yah, Herr Baronschwab, it is 'active'. The SWT button does not appear, making me wonder if it needs a switch assigned, but here we go figuring it out, eh?

Thanks Michael for the URL. I'll check it out!

OK, Michael, I'm putting you on the 'hot-seat'.

My question is not addressed in the faq.

Do YOU have an answer for me while I submit my question for answer?

:-)

Greg

I assume you have the correct operation of the left and right ailerons?

You mentioned the FLAPS don't go down, do they go up? If so adjust the percentages in the FLAP direction form + to - and vice versa in the FlAPERON screen.

Did you want the knob to control the flaps or a switch?

Hmmm. The stick moves the ailerons correctly. The knob (I figured out how to make the left knob operate the flap servos) operates the flap servos. But I want toe ailerons to both go down ten degrees or so when I deploy the flaps, and in a dream I had the ailerons would droop proportionally to 'any' flap deployment.

My flaps are y-harnessed into 7 by the way. Do I need to have the flap servos plugged into 7,8, as in Futaba's complex aerobat set-up?

I'll see your response tonight, as I'm off for real flight training (Frasca 142 Flight sim. Instrument training)

Thanks again!

I'm totally looking forward to a community based approach to learning the ways of this radio quickly, and you've generously gotten me started on my way!

Sincerely,

greg

PS here's the corsair that will benefit from this flaperon work!

I believe you can program the 9Z to operate the ailerons as 10%-FLAPS in conjunction with FLAP deployment by utilizing an offset mix. I'll have to ponder the setup. The Futaba FAQ's page with the complex aerobat setup provides the information required, BUT your twist will necessitate implementing a few changes.

I would leave the FLAP servos on the wye, it simplifies your needs...

If you have the flapperon mix active, the radio will assume you are using the two aileron servos for both aileron and flaps. If your flaps are really on a seperate channel, you will need to set them up seperately. Various ways to do this. Oh, you don't need a switch assigned to flapperon, or any mix for that matter. If you don't assign a switch, the mix is always on.

Easiest way I can think of is disable the flaperon mix and enable the aileron diff mix. This will move to aileron servos to ch1 and ch5? I can't remember for sure if the second aileron is ch5, but I know it won't be ch6 with the diff mix. Then move your flaps to ch6. Be sure you have a knob or slider, etc assigned to ch 6.

OR, you can leave the flapperon mix just as it is. Un assign the knob/slider etc from ch6 (flap) such that is won't casue your ailerons to move. Then assign a knob/slider to ch7 (aux1). The knob will now drive ch7 which is flaps in your setup. That should work too.
