Has anybody used the Hitec 5645 digital servo. I understand this servo is not coreless. I have read that you should not set Hitec digital servos past 120% of travel. I plan on using this servo on a hot 120 size plane.

That is correct, neither the 5625 or 5645 are coreless. Their coreless versions are the 5925 and 5945 and are about $35.00 more expensive.

The original Hitec digitals did have a problem with end points past 125%. My understanding is that this problem has been corrected in the new versions. In addition, the newer 5625s and 5645s have been re-statted as 100++ ozs of torgue from 77ozs.

Can anyone tell me what advantages there are over the 645 if I'm not planning to purchase the servo programmer.

The digital servos have more torque and speed and much better holding power. Centering, which is a major weakness of the Hitec 600 series servos, is much better as well.
