High Band - Low Band?
to be sure I understand, the hi, low only referres to frequency. you can take the same rx and put a low crystal in it and it'll work or put a high crystal in it and it'll work. iow the rx is the same no matter what. if so, why do people advertise high band rx and low band rx for sale/trade? if they list the crystal freq, that's all that matters, right?

Fly,
You should keep low freq crystals in a low band RX and high band crystals in a high band RX. The RX's are "tuned" to either low or hi. You should not interchange them.

High Band - Low Band?
Yup, just to add to what Mhawker said, if you interchange them, your range will be adversely affected especially if your freq is at the extreme end of the opposite band. Tuning for the Tx module and receiver is done at the mid freq of each band. Hope this helps...........

High Low
If the previous post are correct. Then can some one tell me. How to identify the receiver as low or high?
Hitec sells you a receiver and they don't care what channel crystal number you plan on using.
Of course, IF you buy a used receiver with out a crystal. How do you know what channel to use? High Or Low.
Thx Dan

High Band - Low Band?
The high or low band is a Futaba thing.
Hitec does not do this. Hitec lists only a 2% reduction in range
by using crystals at the ends of the band (CH11 or CH60)

High Band - Low Band?
I have used Futaba recievers and jumped from high to low band. Some of their recievers don't specify high or low band. I guess just the older or cheaper ones do.

Flatfour, at one time I also thought that the high band, low band concept was a Futaba thing, but a friend that flys JR set me straight. In the manual for every JR 10X and 10SXII and 642 and probably every other JR radio is a frequency chart showing our frequency band split into two halves, and labeled High band/Low band. The manual for the 10SXII predates Futaba selling pretuned recievers by several years, so apparently the concept originally belongs to JR.
