Default Charging Diode in Futaba Super 7 radio

I'd like to remove the charging diode in my UA7FS radio and want to make sure I have the right one. Is it the diode on the little PC board that the battery plugs into?

All I need to do is short past this, right?

Why remove it, just by-pass it with a small piece of wire?

Thanks! That's just what I was looking for. While I was at it, I installed a 9V battery clip in place of the metal finger contacts originally in there to hopefully provide a better connection. I was having intermittent losses of power (thankfully not while I was flying!) the last time I was at the field and traced it to the battery contacts.

I eliminate the cheap battery contacts on all my Futab equipment. I would not use a 9V battery clip. What I did was use a standard Futaba connector.
