looking for a good basic computer radio
I have a Towerhobbies 6FM 6-channel radio and I am beginning to realize that I should have gotten a computer radio in the first place. One of the more important things I am looking for in the radio is the ability to program in flaperons and expo and i'd like the radio to be fairly easy to use. I was looking at the Hitec VG6000 and it looks like a good buy to me but I can't tell if I can program in flaperons. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXEUM1**&P=0
It looks like a good radio to me and is in the price range.
Any other suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I forgot to include in the post that I have Futaba and towerhobbies servos and recievers already and was wondering if the Hitec system is compatible.

The VG6000 ia an Airtronics radio, not Hitec. And being Airtronics,it is NOT compatible with Futaba and Tower receivers (Hitec either, unless it's their "Shift Selectable" model. It is compatible with JR.

The Hitec Optic 6 is worth looking at. It can do flaperon, expo, crow, other mixes. It will work with your existing receivers. Futaba 6EXA, soon to be replaced by 6EXAS, is good but has less features than the Optic 6.

the Futaba 7C:

Hitec Eclipse 7:

All will work with your present PPm receivers.

RE: looking for a good basic computer radio
I recently bought an Airtronics VG6000. Having never owned a computer radio, I was a little worried about it being complicated. So far its a piece of cake. All the menus are visible all the time, so you can always see what your looking for. In the interest of full disclosure, I've never flown anything with it, so that aspect I haven't fully evaluated. For me it was the right price at $175.

RE: looking for a good basic computer radio
Futaba markets the 6EXA as an entry level computer radio. Hitec markets the Optic 6 as 'the most advanced 6 channel' radio.
http://www.futaba-rc.com/radios/futk55.html info on 6EXA
on www.hitecrcd.com they have an Optic comparison chart that lines it up against JR XP6102, Airtronics RD6000 Super, Futaba 7C
None are "better" than the others. It really comes down to what features you actually care about and how much money you want to spend.
