Default whats different between digital and non digital

Just wondering if a digital servo will work with a non digital rx, I have a savage and need more steering torque.
Will non digital servos work on a digital rx.
Also how do you tell if a remote/receiver set are digital. ie,. jr xr2i, xr3pro ect
is it like tv and mobile/cell phones with old analouge and new digital

sorry if this makes no sense

Generally you can use any type of servo with any receiver. The signal between the receiver and the servo is standard 1.5 pulse width.
