Default 8611 centering problems

Have just replaced the 8611 for the third time on my Extreme flight 87" Yak rudder. After approx 20 hours each servo started to vibrate back and forth about centre, if the sub trim was adjusted to a "clean" point all seemed well as long as one did not hit the old centre. Seems like the pot went both times which aint to clever really, is there something I could be doing wrong or are these servos not quite as bullet proof as JR would like to think. by the way the rudder is pull pull not too tight and with correct geometry, cheers

Default RE: 8611 centering problems

JR High priced digital servos are set to 0us deadband *. With no resting place they are constantly hunting even if you are unable to see it. This results in rapid wear of the potentiometer at the center spot. This results in visible hunting that you have found needs to be changed to another spot on the potentiometer. The only way to fix this is to send them back to JR to replace the potentiometer or buy another make of servo. With Hitec's you can adjust the deadband to control the wear on the pot.
BTW it also means rapid wear of the gears.
