RE: Spektrum DX-7
Most pilots fly with Mode 2 transmitters where the Throttle is on the Left Stick and the Elevator is on the Right Stick. Mode 1 transmitters have Throttle on the Right and Elevator on the Left.

The DX7 can be converted to Mode 1
http://www.mugi.co.uk/tutorials_dx7_modechange.php
Is that your intention?
If you are going to use the transmitter for a device that does not use a Throttle, you should call Horizon to see if you can purchase the hardware necessary to add springs to the Throttle portion of the Left Stick

RE: Spektrum DX-7
I'm mainly going to use this for robotics.
When I opened it up I noticed that the right stick had the spings and the left stick didn't.
Have you heard of anyone adding the spring hardware to the left stick?
Or have you seen a different remote like this that came stock with spings on all sides?
Thanks

Hi,
If the supplier cannot provide the spring, I would consider spings from ball pens.
Some would have just about the proper strength for the purpose and the proper dia to fit in.
They are easy to cut and form the ends to hook on.
I have used some for other similar purposes.
1/2 a penny's worth.
Happy New Year.

In the link I sent you, it describes how to convert your Tx to Mode 1 and move the springs from the Right Stick to the Left Stick. I realize that you want both sticks, Up/Down and Right/Left to have Spring Tension. See if Horizon will sell you the parts or see if you can make your own as Zor suggested. I have never had a need to do this but I am sure there are many threads on the subject. 3D Aircraft and Heli pilots remove the Springs and the Ratchet, on the Throttle Stick, all the time, because they like the free movement. Perhaps one of them would send them to you.
What do you intend to use as a Throttle for your Robot? Do you want it to be Proportional or just On/Off?

RE: Spektrum DX-7
This thread is so old I cannot remember the original question. I think it was as follows.
I want the ailerons to act as ailerons, however I want the elevator (its split with each half a flying stab) to mimic the aileron movement, as in the F-14. In addition to this, when I pull back for up elevator, both split stabs should give up, and up front, the ailerons should come down. Pushing the stick forward should result in both split stabs providing down elevator, and the ailerons should move upward.
Actually, I have this set-up in one of my 20 year old designs. It is acheived with mechanical mixing and works really well. Axial roll is that of an arrow. Loops are extremely tight, both inside and outside. Once we get a break in the weather, perhaps I can get one of my "Photo" buddies to capture some flight video and I'll post.
I think I posted waaaaay back a question as to how all of this could be electronically programmed.

RE: Spektrum DX-7
I was wondering if anybody can help, on the spectrum DX7 I'm trying to use individual servos for ail. Following the book directions I noticed thet the aux channel does not have the full range as of the normal ail channel, what am I doing wrong? I think the instruction book is not clear enough, can anyone tell me how to set it up correctly?

What has happened to the DX7. I don't see it a being available of HH. Is it discontinued? I guess I will have to get the DX8 and reset the transmitter to work with all my AR7000 receivers.

RE: Spektrum DX-7
I was at a large hobby shop in Pennsylvania last week. The owner said the Horizon rep is pretty good at keeping him up to date on changes, but did not know if anything was going to replace the DX7 either. It is definitely gone as has been stated previously. No telling where the Spektrum website is updated from. The JR Radio website still has DSM2 in the descriptions too, so maybe no updates until something definitive. Seems strange that everything is behind on these websites, but maybe the earthquake in Japan is the cause.....

RE: Spektrum DX-7
Yes.....I just bought mine a month ago brand new from my local RC shop. This is my going to be my first time flying with it, but I do have to say I like the layout of the radio itself from the get go.
And I`m currently living in Winnipeg.

Rolex24hrs,
I think you will like the DX7.
It has nice features.
I am not one going for telemetry.
I also like switches as compared to touch screen.

RE: Spektrum DX-7
Hi Gents: I have the DX7 on all but one of my planes. I have the DX8 on a Funtana 125 with the SAP180HP 30cc gas engine. Love them all. The DX8 uses the AR8000 receiver. I have not tried setting up all of the AR7000 receivers on the DX8 transmitter. Think I will leave well enough alone. The DX7 works great, but just had to have the DX8 system on one plane.
