Default Question about programming?

Quick question if i have a 6 channel programmable radio (6XAS) could i connect the channels as follows:
1-4 (regular controls)
5 - retracts
6- flaps (airlelons)
and could i connect channel 6 so that it also turns a servo on channel 7.
what i want is that when i hit channel 6 a want the airleons to go down (flaps) and a bomb drop to release is this possible or do i need a 7 channel radio.
Also is hitec compatible with futaba servos, recievers, etc..
P.S. Im planing on using this setup on a GP P-51D Mustang. (Do they have serperate flaps or is it just the airelons)?

Thanks alot,

Papa

If I remember correctly, the gp has no flaps, but dual aileron servos. So to use the bomb drop with the 6xas, about you're only option is to use a Y connector for the aileron servos, then use channel 6 for the bomb drop. You could also use some creative programming with the airbrake function to use the airbrake switch as a bomb drop instead of the knob.

also, yes Hitec equip is compatible with Futaba. I've use Futaba receivers with Hitec servos and vice versa.

With airbrake you can set the flap and elevator postitions to be something different, such as down flaps with a little up elevator. Sort of like having flaps on a switch.

The airbrake doesn't consume a channel by itself, but controls channel 6 and channel 2. Channel 6 is normally controlled by the rotating knob (such as for variable position flaps). You can however turn on airbrake (see manual for details, I don't have my tx with me then set for like 100% (or however much you need to release the bomb) on channel 6, and 0% on channel 2(so you don't mix in elevator). Then in effect, you can use the airbrake switch to drop your bomb.

Hope that's not too confusing, it's kinda hard to explain without using the tx.

Alright i understand what your saying but with the airbrake acting as a bomb drop i dont have flaps. The GP mustang doesn't have flaps but wouldn't both airelons going down do the job i heard its hard to land a warbird without flaps.

With the outboard ailerons acting as flaps the chances of a tipstall would increase. I wouldn't recommend it. Instead, use a Y-harness for your two aileron servos, and run the bomb drop off the flap channel.

Default Question about programming?

do most people not use flaps on the GP Mustang? Is it a hard plane to land?
