How are you going 2.4?
Was just curious who is going to 2.4 this year. My 9C Futaba radio is around 3-4 years old so I probably will not be getting the module. If the price for the Futaba 12FG is good then I might get that this Summer when it comes out. I will still keep my 9c though for my 40% and 33% airplanes. The reason why I just want to test the radio out on the smaller planes first. I know there is not going to probably be any problems. I just want to take it safe.
It will be nice not have to worry getting shoot down. I know at our field we will still be using the frequency board and getting pins for the 2.4. We should still keep the habit of getting the pin for the next couple of years.

RE: How are you going 2.4?
I need a new radio so a complete system is what I want. I have had Futaba in the past sooo, I would get the 12G if its priced under a Grand.
What I really want is a 9C in FASST mode.
Maybe I will wait, the FASST system looks good

I bought a DX-7 and have found it to be a solid radio. However, as a confirmed Futaba guy I will be getting the 12FG and possibly a module for my trusty 8U Super and my 9z WCII as I want to experiment with the modules too. Only time and experience will determine my final Tx configuration...

None of those choices, I will wait for Futaba's 9c 2.4 ghz replacement.
They already have the 6 and 12, the 9 can't be too far behind.

I plan to go with Futaba, after they have been field tested I want a module for my 9C.
I would much rather go with the Futaba module so if I encounter any problems I can
send both to the same place for repair. I feel if you go with another manufactors
module you could end up in a situation where one manufactor will blame the other
for the system not working properly.

RE: How are you going 2.4?
Depending on the price, I'll probably go with the Futaba module for my 9C, and then some 8 channel rx's. The six channel Rx's are less than $100, so the 8's shouldn't be much more, but I guess we'll see. IF the price difference between the module/rx combo isn't that much less than a new radio, then I'd be tempted to go for the new radio. It all depends upon what's available, how much it is, and what you guys are reporting regarding your experiences with it. I was about to pull the trigger on a DX-7 some months ago, but cooler heads prevailed and I was advised to wait till after Toledo. BOY am I glad I did!!!!

I will go with the extreme link until Futaba comes out with a true 14 channel 2.4

I'm building my own from scratch.
16 channels, 99 model memory, totally orthagonal mixing, all switches/sticks/knobs user-assignable, receiver battery voltage displayed in realtime on the transmitter LCD with audio low-voltage alert, etc, etc.

gonna wait till the dust settles but as it looks now i'll be going with an xtremelink module in my homebuilt microstar2000. whatever happens i will not give up the functionality i currently have for a new Tx with lame-o, user-unfriendly programming. and i fully expect future firmware upgrades for the microstar to include more channels as these modules and receivers make their way to the market.

Waiting for a system that is from the ground up. But maybe this has been Futaba's idea from the beginning for the 14??????

Not sure what you mean here?? The 12Z and 14MZ will both offer 14 channels using the Futaba module.

RE: How are you going 2.4?
I find the results of your poll very surprising. Futaba modules and 12FG are at 44% and were only annouced last week. X-treme is at 20 % and is a brand new venture that hasn't sold anything yet. Spektrum has been available for a few months and is trailing the rest, is it a brand name recogition issue? (You didn't list the Futaba 6 ch 2.4 as an option.) I know poll response sample is to small to be very meaningful statiscally, but still interesting.

I'd have liked to have seen the DX6 and <other> as alternatives. I got the DX6 as a knock around radio for smaller electrics and sailplanes and am waiting to see what HiTec does before I do anything. My EVO 9 72 mHz spectrum and myriad Rx's will do fine in the interim.

Ya, what about EVO. I almost went that way last year. I wonder if they won't come out with something. I like the radio, but not on 72MHz

Yes, I too am interested to see what the ExtremeLink system can do. For the price I may just well get a new 9C and plug one in
