Default Spectrum vs. xtremelink

Can any give me hard evidence that would point to which of the two would be superior?

If you are supported / affiliated in any way by any manufacture please disclose that with your information.

Thank you,

Rob

Well I lost 2 planes with my spektrum and the Ar-6100 receiver. I know it wasn't not my fault.
With the new updated receiver everything has been going well !!! So far it works great however, this should have been the case from the beginning. I shouldn't have had to loose 2 planes do to a MFG defect or software issues. Furthermore there customer service has been bad.
I haven't used the system with the full range receiver yet. I have to say I'm a little worried.
This isn't meant as a slam just my experience.
I have no experience with extreme link.

Jon,

I think you may have taken precautionary action on the wrong end of the anatomy-----------boots might prove more useful.

2 gas and 1 glow, all giant scale, on DX-7 / AR 7000 with rock solid performance. In fact, it cured an ignition related glitch on one.

I think he just wants some honest feedback. My take is that neither of them have been around long enough to make any real comparisons. On top of that, there are only those folks flying XPS systems that were bought from the Toledo show. I do not think anyone has got one since Toledo. I think to get an honest assesment a solid season of flying needs to be done with it to really see what is going on. I have read of Spektrum and XPS planes going in, so waiting for all the dust to settle. I just believe it is way too early to compare anything in 2.4, as well as the Futaba and JR systems are not even out yet. I hope the technology works out, but time will tell.

Well said. I too am anxious but I've flown a long time on 72Mhz with good results so what's another season. Things will be much more clear after a while.

I have run AR7000's three planes, a glow Showtime 90, an E-Flight mini-Extra, and most recently, a Moki-powered 26% Extra 300, with absolutely no issues. Rock solid and never have to touch a pin. Awesome!

The Futaba 6 channel is out, and seems to be working fine. At least I haven't heard any horror stories yet.

It looks as though JR's 2.4GHz is called Spektrum, this based on the new X9303 JR being a "JR" radio, but has the Spektrum logo also. I seriously doubt that their will be a JR flavor of SS.
Just my 2 cents.

Look at the computer you're sitting in front of right now. Most of them will have an "Intel Inside" sticker on them. That doesn't mean that Intel made it. Only that some Intel technology is included inside of it. Can't you give JR credit for there being the same relationship?

My comment was more generic and not aimed at you. There are so many that insist that JR and Spektrum are the same company with no FACTUAL proof. Even if they are the same, "who cares" is my opinion. I just want a good radio that works. It can say "Smothers Brothers" on it for all I care. In fact, I like that idea.

Back on track please . . . I didn't ask about futaba, I asked about DS2 (spectrum) vs. extreme link . . .

Zoott sorry about your losses. I agree they should not have happened. How can you tell a "upgraded" 6100 from an original?

I got three ar7000 rec. Using 2 regularly with no problems since dec or jan (crs). A rascal110 and H9 P-40. The third is going in a 1/4 scale Busa J3. I like the model match on spectrum. I've lost two planes having the wrong model selected, in the last 15yrs. Thats two too many. Havent used the other spektrum rec so I cant comment on them. Anyway, I'm waiting to see how the dust settles before getting in too much deeper. I have about 13 more planes to convert so I'll be flying 72mhz for at least a few more years. And I gotta say, its GREAT not having to wait for my freq.

A updated AR-6100 has a little round sticker and I think it says V1.2 on it. I'm at work so i cant tell you for sure what it says. Just look for the little round sticker on the side.
So far all is well with the new Ar-6100. I have about ten flights and I hope there are no more incidents and I will be a happy spektrum user
