PPM versus PCM
This will be my first jet & do not know much about them, so please excuse my ignorance.
I have purchased a Simjet 1700 turbine which is going into a Hotspot.
I was surprised to note that Simjet recommend using a PPM receiver as opposed to PCM. I thought PCM was a must for jets due to failsafe requirements.
Also is a whip antenna advisable rather than the standard one.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Jim.

PPM versus PCM
The ECU should have its own failsafe. The advice of the JMA's safety rep is that there is no reason why PCM should be favoured over PPM in a jet model, and that the environment for the radio is no worse and often much better in a jet than in an electric powered model.

PPM versus PCM
Hi,
No advantage between the two, speaking from experience
with jets, go for top of the range pcm rx, set failsafe to all controls neutral with throttle idle, jets and dead stick do not
match if it recovers.
Re the whip aerial then its a very good idea, if you want
a really neat install then the base loaded aerial from Quick UK
is superb, have had 10-20% increase in ground range with
it in three different jets.
Regarding the Simjet I have both 1700 and 2300, make
sure the rx is at least 2ins from both the ecu and pump and
dont run either the 9.6v battery lead or the pump lead near
it.
Hope this helps.
Mike

PPM versus PCM
You should test a system on PPM, PCM hides ambient problems (especially intermitent ones) that might point you to a problem in your electrical system.
