Futaba 8 UAP up in smoke
Hello all, I am posting this for a friend. Has anyone else had their transmitter go up in smoke when turning on or is this just a case of bad luck? My friend has had two transmitters go up on smoke when turning them on, The first was a few weeks ago and was just thought that a component failed and caused the problem. He then came to me and purchased a known good transmitter of the same type as the first and now after a few weeks it has done the same. The only common elements are thst they are both Futaba 8 UAP transmitters, both being used by the same person and hee uses a Sirrus charger at the field to field charger them.

Highly unlikely, has your friend done anything to the TX's, like bypassing the diode for cycling the batteries? I have been in R/C for going on 30 years, and have never experienced a TX burning up, or have I ever seen one. I would suspect your buddy is doing something to them that he is not telling you about.

fast charging with the wrong polarity will blow some chips, seen it done, older fellow hooked up an old hitec to a fast charger and within seconds I was telling him that It wouldnt work any more because he had let all of the smoke out of the chips
