The 2700 AAs are physically and electrically fragile. Use them with great care.

I've heard that too - I think it was some battery supplier website that said they wouldn't warranty them because they can be fried by fast charging, they have to be slow charged.

It probably depends on the end use of the cells. The 2700 AA's are higher internal resistance, not good for high discharge use. Not sure about the A's, you'd have to look.

For a transmitter, the 2700's are probably ok, as long as you don't try to fast charge them.

Get AA cells, lighter than A's, but go for a lower mah, say 2000 or so. Very robust, hold their charge better, etc., and still four times the capacity than we had a couple of years ago.

[link=http://thomasdistributing.com/sanyo-2700-aa-rechargeable-batteries.htm]Sanyo 2700mah[/link] I picked these up and i must say im very impressed. they kept my tx on for about 48Hrs on a single charge. They do take a while to charge. My peak charger charged them at .3A over night and it went great. No tabs tho

if you want to find out about Nimh cells and what happens when the capacity becomes more than normal, go to this site
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/index.php?

these guys are flashlight NUTZ, and have tested and exhausted everything inside and out when it comes to Nimh technology..................bottom line though is that 2700 has pushed the AA cells to far and even Sanyo chose to back down to 2000mah when they developed the "Eneloop" batteries which outshine in shelf life and overall discharge rate and are less fragile when charged improperly.

the last set of 2700mah AA's i bought didn't perform very well after 3 months use in my off camera flash units that i use for photography.
also with the use of Nimh for my camera equipment, i learned that Nimh batteries are great in the beginning, but a cell can go flat on you just about as quick as a NiCad, but also don't seem to last as long either.
