Which Radio (662, RD8000, Eclipse 7)
I know it will be one of these three radios, but I can't decide between them. Anyone have these radios and recommend them? I don't want to buy the wrong one. I don't fly helicopters but might get into it someday, but they all have helicopter mixing so that isn't an issue. Just tell me which one you think is the best, not regarding price because They are all within 10 dollars of each other. The Hitec doesn't come with BB servos though, I could probably order it with them.

no bb servos on the eclipse oh well, it is not that much of a difference, I would use them until they break and then get bb ones anyway.

Eclipse 7
Can't speak about the other radios, but my Hitec Eclipse 7 is very versatile and a rock solid performer. I use the dual-rate, programmable mixes, shift select and Spectra module. Great bang for your buck. BTW, the HS-422's are very good servos.

RD6000 Super
I too cannot speak for the other radios but we have good luck with Hitech and RD6000 and 6000 Super at our field. I personally fly an RD6000 Super but a buddy of mine has Hitech and I like his radio too.

Depends on what you want to do.
if you a beginner and all you want to do is fly 40-60 stuff
get the Hitec
if your a beginner and want to go on in the sport and fly more advance equipment buy the RD8000 simply because you can get PCM with the RD and you cant with the Hitec.

Is it more expensive with the selectable modulation, If it is, which would be the better radio? The RD 8000 is 259 with 4 bb servos, if the eclipse with the selectable modulation is around that I would still consider it.

Be aware the RD6000 and RD8000 don't have dual rates or expo on the rudder channel. Other than that, I was quite happy with my RD6000. The selectable modulation is a great feature and it's very easy to program.

No duals or expo on rudder, are you sure? this seems wierd, that is the one channel that needs it the most with 3D stuff. (Hovering, harriers). Okay, if it doesn't have it on rudder, Eclipse, or 662?

It might be a little more, but also take a look at JR's 8103. About $380 shipped - remember it comes with 4 very nice digital sports servos; fwiw I sold the entire flight pack and kept the radio, the final cost to me was about that of an Eclipse TX alone ($190-ish or less). Definately beats out the Eclipse. Of course in the Futaba camp there's the 9C ($270 for TX alone)

choice radio
Blkhawk,
I have both the rd6000 and the Eclipse,
I love the rd 6000.....very easy to program and remember how to use the computer features at the field when you forget to bring the operators manual with.
Does not have exp or dual rate on Rudder.... a real bummer.
I like the Eclipse for the multi frequency selection (spectra module) but the computer programing is torture on the brain.
Not very intuitive at all. If I forget the manual at home when I go to the field Im really stuck if I need to change something stored in memory.
The eclipse has become my standard radio, and the RD6000 is my backup or special project radio.
I hope my input helps.
Jeff

Which Radio (662, RD8000, Eclipse 7)
Just thought i would throw in a few comments.
These are probably all very good radio systems, especially when you are starting out. I have been extremely happy with my 662! It and the R700 receiver have been wonderfully reliable - never a glitch. The included 537s are solid too.
It is also very easy to program. Of note, the 662 does not have dual rates on the rudder, either. But you can just program that onto a switch. (I can provide directions if you need them - but it is quite easy to sort out.) Throw some throttle to elevator on another switch and you're set!
