will this LIPO work with a spectrum AR7000 RX
G'Day
i have an ar7000 rx i am looking at puting in a glider and i have a lipo that i want to use as a receiver pack the lipo is a
Flight Power EVO20 LIPO
2100mAH
2s 1p
7.4V
20C 42 amp continuous , 30C 63 amp bursts
will this batery work with my RX or will it just burn it out ? any help would be apreciated thanks

G'day Simmo,
The RX will work with that voltage, in fact it will work up to about 9 volts, BUT, your servos will only handle up to 6.5 volts, depending on the servo, some don't like any more than 4.8 volts.
So the servos are your limiting factor, stick with Sanya Eneloop NiMh batteries, either 4.8 or 6 volts, 4 or 5 cells, @ about $30.00 here in Aus, & your problems will be solved.

Hi!
Servos are the limiting factor!
I use the Hi-Models 6,4V LiFePo 2000mAh batteries in my Yak-54 with a Spektrum AR 9100 receiver and JR 8711 servon...No problem what so ever.
I would be very cautious about using 7,4V Lipo cells! It will work... but how long???

ok thanks guys i am running the servos that are stock with the spectrum dx7 package and hitec 82-MG mini servos will this make any diferance?
or should i just run a BEC because it was a 100 dollar batery so i dont realy want to change baterys are BECs ok to run?
thanks guys for your help

I use LiPl's in all my aircraft. I generally use a 6v or 5v voltage regulator depending upon the type of servos I choose. Flight Power makes LiPos that are specifically marked as Rx batteries. It may be just the conectors they supply. They have a Balancing Tap and two male JR type connectors that don't fit JR without some modification. The corners on one side need to be beveled.

ok because the flight power rx packs are 7.4 volts that should mean that any 7.4 volt batery "should be ok"right or is there another thing in the batery that makes it ok to use with the rx/servos

so what would you do with the 2nd rx conector im confused lol
i think i will just get me a BEC its the simplest way to go lol
thanks again everyone for your help

I just use the 2nd Rx connector to check the voltage of the battery. If you are not using electric motors for power you do not need a BEC. Using Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion Rx batteries is very commoon now. Most of the IMAC competition pilots use them. There are quite a few of my club members that have converted to Lithiums. I even use LilPos in all my Tx's.
MPI, among others, sells voltage regulators. I have had to use voltage regulators, with 6v NiMh batteries, when I was using servos that would not work at 6v.

yea i think i will run a voltage regulator for 6 volts just to be safe all of my servos are rated to 6 volts so i think this will work fine
where can you buy voltage regulators from and how much are they ?

Small A123 cells 1100 ma solves all the problems
same output voltage wise as a 5 cell NiMhpack but two cells make a rx pack for under 3 ozs . no regs needed or wanted .
Al of our competition flyer with large 40% stuff have gone to A123 or are going to them

i will have a look for some voltage regulators at my LHS first and if not i will look at getting one of TBM. i dont realy want to buy a new batery but i might have to look at them for the next plane i build
thanks again
