Can't Decide Futaba 6X or 9C?
I am torn $ 250 for 6X or $390 for 9C with flight packs. I guess the difference is not all that difficult. I am new as of this year to the hobby and I currently have the JR 431EX 5 ch. NO RATES, OR EXPONENTIAL!
I am assembling a Hanger 9 Super Stick 60 and I am going to need more than my JR can give me.
From what I can tell most everyone that I see they have the 6X and in about 2 - 3 years they need something more like the 9C. So that is why I am considering jumping strait to to 9C.

well
I had the 6X for less than a year now I use the 9C and it is awesome- super easy to program, assign your own switches, and 8 model memory...
If you can afford it- do it!
Have fun,

The question isn't whether you can or want to spend the extra money... the question is do you plan to stay in this hobby? If yes, then without a doubt get the 9C. You will find out very soon that the T6XAS is very limited as you grow and use more mixing, dual elevator servos, etc, etc.
And you can get the Futaba 9C FM version for $365 shipped from Chief Aircraft. Then if you want to use PCM you can just buy a PCM rx at a later date. That is if you don't want the PCM rx now.

I also vote for the 9C. I have been through 4 transmitters in the last 2 years. I started with a 6X and then sold it to upgrade to a 9C. I sold the 9C with a complete heli deal I was selling and bought another 6X thinking I would be happy with it. Less than 6 months later I wanted another 9C and just upgraded again.
The biggest thing for me is not all of the fancy mixes or switch assignability, but the digital trims and being able to just turn off the radio after flying and not have to worry about saving trim positions when switching to another airframe.
If you can afford it, get the 9C.

Actually she is pretty cool! I have her interested in the hobby! She has her own trainer and a Duraplane that she needs to put together.
I am definitely going to stay in the hobby as long as I can afford it! My wish list exceeds my pocketbook many times over!

I am on Chief's website and the 9C is $365! That's about $20 less than any other place I have seen! They also have the Saito 100 I need for my new Super Stick 60 that I am putting together!
They are also giving you the expanded scale voltmeter with purchase of the 9C's

You will like the 9C. It is by far the best radio I have used so far. It is awsome for every application I have used it for. I sold most of my other radios and bought 8 flight packs for it. Can't say enough good about it. I can't see replacing it for a long time.

Well thats enough convincing I am going to order the 9C I just wanted to show THE WIFE what everyone else had to say about it first. I want to thank everyone who posted! I don't think I need the PCM flight pack right now so I will order the FM version of the 9C for now.
Flyboy thats a lot of planes! I have only been in the hobby since late November last year and me and my wife only have 7 planes!
YES IT IS AN ADDICTION! Do they have any sort of AA for this hobby?

RCBOZO,
If you want yet one more example, consider this...
I explained to my wife back in December what I wanted for a Christmas gift. I told her that for right now, the 6X would be perfect, and sent her off to the LHS with a list.
Christmas day, I opened the package expecting no surprise, and there it was... my own 9C. The photos that day showed real excitement, and true surprise. A couple of frames later the expression on my face was agony, being a total newb to the hobby and knowing how much the price tag of the 9C is. A few months later I already have a couple of models on it, and have barely even began to tap into all of the features. It doesn't take long to figure out that my wife is great, and the radio is too.
.

Now.... if I could only get her to read this thread... hehehehehe
Seriously, the 9C is a great radio, and even a for a beginner like me it is easy to work with, as well as recognize the potential it has. Go for it, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

My wife is cool. It is just that I just ripped a hole in the credit card a few weeks ago and I am about to do it again. It will be a week or so but that baby is mine!
