I've been away from airplanes flying helis the last 10 years. I have a Great Planes Cherokee on the way. It calls for standard sized 42 ounce torque servos. I like Hitec radios and happen to have several 225 mighty mini servos. These servos though physically smaller put out 54 ounces at 4.8 volts and 67 ounces at 6 volts. Is there any reason I can't use them in this application? Thanks in advance.

There is no reason to not use them on the ailerons of this airplane if you wish. It is in fact one of my favorites and I suspect I own well over a hundred. The numbers are good however it is smaller physically which means smaller gear teeth that can fail with some types of airplanes of the so called 3d type when used on grossly oversized control surfaces.

Here is one of my airplanes using this servo in this case on aileron and rudder, a kit bashed Champion Lancer. The second picture is another with 225's everywhere except throttles which are Hs 85's. Both airplanes are slighty larger than you airplane and powered by 25's

Thanks for the reply....great looking plane. Think I could use them on my flaps also (2 servos) and standard on the elevator? 225 on rudder?

Thank you. On elevator on that size and kind of airplane I think I would go with a servo with larger gears (standard sized). The rudder would be fine for the normal loads with a 225 but the only question mark would be your flying surface and how rough. Gears can take quite a pounding through the pushrods.

If you mean flaperons programed through the ailerons (two servos) then yes the 225's are fine.

My flaps are separate from the ailerons unless I add crow but each flap has a servo and each aileron has a servo. The flying surface is a new field and new paved runway.
