Jimf14: Did you ever figure out how to post your pdf. It would be nice to have a searchable manual.
Thanks

Welll Iwent to new post and that lets you upload files. It starts to upload very slowly and after a few minutes it says server timed out. The file is 49MB. At the rate it was transfering it would have take 3+ hours!

Any suggestions? Normallly Ican upload or download big files very quickly but not here.

Ialso sent it to Hitec suport and to Hitec sales hoping that would post it on there site. They never seemed to do that nor answer my email.

hello did you hear that a new Aurora 9 lock up totaly and his plane crash from 300 ft. Sent it back to Hitec and did the same thing again. Hitec said they will fix his radio but no compensation for his plane ,servo's or his DA 50 which was destroyed. I think Hitec should replace his plane.

I had few flights with my A9 on a C-Arf 100cc Extra330 and very happy with it until last weekend. I recommended the A9 to my friend and he replaced his JR 9303 with the A9. Last weekend he lost signal 30 seconds after take off and crashed his brandnew P-47 gaser. It was his maiden flight with the A9. He had 3 successful flights with his old 9303 before sold off his radio and got the A9. He told me he had called Hitec. I know my friend is a trusty large airplane assembler. He is everybody's test pilot at the field. If anybody has problem getting their new engines started, he is the guy to call. If anybody who can't figure out their new JR radio, he is the guy. He always check everybody new plane inside out prior to test flight. For as long as I know him, he never lost a plane due to technical issue; he lost a few due to over confident and pilot errors. I heard a couple of crashes from pilots using the A9 but I always discredit them due to their inexperience assembling skills on large gasers. My friend's crash is very concerning to me. He told me he has only one 2500mAH LiPo with 6.5V regulator into the Optima 9 with 7 analog servos. The retract was mechanical which can be an issue on the single battery if one or more wheels get stuck outside the wheelwells. His battery was fully charged prior to that ill-fate first flight. He bound his reciever on Standard Mode at home, not at the field. After the crash, all electronics work ok, no sign of signal loss. Telemetry always reported 6.5V up to the crash. If I understand correctly, the regulator can only deliver 3A continuously. LiPo would not have issue with large current draw, the bottle neck is the regulator. I am still baffle over this and will talk to my friend in depth when I see him this weekend. If anyone else crash with their A9, it would never concern me. But if this guy crash with the A9, I must get to the bottom before flying my $5K plus warbirds.

The field that he flies has a few issues with 2.4GHz radio regardless of brand. The field is located in the valley (in the city) with 2 lage radio stations at both ends of the runway on the mountain tops. We don't have issue with 72MHz, except for channel 48 which is always occuppied by unknown source.

Luckly, I don't fly at this field anymore. I fly in no-mansland among the smelly cattles.

Hi

I crashed my plane this week-end with the A-9 , .................................... the aileron extension wasn,t pluged in properly . Can I still blame the A-9 ? . It was the first time I have ever lost a ship this way , there,s always a first time

In the full scale world most ( not all ) are human error . It,s very difficult to tell sometimes in the RC world .

IMHO

Telemetry always reported 6.5V up to the crash.
Maybe he was reading battery voltage on his transmitter display, instead of flying the plane.

No problem if you get me your email. First come first serve but if it is 1000 it may be long time.

Ireally had hoped Hitec would post it. Or they coulddo what Idid and use a trial version the software and convert it. Maybe the moderators here know of getting it uploaded if Iemail it to one of them.

It is so easy when you want find and study function that you want to enable.

Funny you say that. When Igot the A9, guys at the field were salivating over the RX voltage downlink/display. Yes it is great during pre flight/post flight and at the bench.

I would never be able to read that thing while flying. Land, read, take off yes. If my plane were to go wobbly in flight I am not going to call a guy over to read it for me for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I do know one thing, in playing with the radio I lost the bind once, I think it was do to holding the button to long for range check.

If you turn off the transmitter in scan mode and turn it back on mine will not re-link. I would hope no one would do this in flight but if you had a bad battery connection?

Just throwing stuff out there.

Idid the same thing once in binding. Also, the manual tells you that if you use Scan mode and loose TX power, the system will not rebind!

I have been using normal mode only. No problems so far. I am the only A9 at my field so Ihave no one to compare with so far.

I used be involved in F-14 flight test and listened to many test pilots doing pre-take off run up and checks. I have adapted that process even though some guys at my field think it is stupid.

We have safety benches. I do a controls preflight before and after start up even with EPower planes. Then pre-taxi I go though a little routine: "Battery is good, My pin is up, my antenna is up, my switches are set, my timer is set, I have up, down, left- right wings, left right tail, flaps, motor contorl..........field is clear."....call take off and go.

Works for me. But Istill wish Hitec had patented Model Match first.....

On a related note, I have found that if I power off the receiver without powering down the transmitter, they will not rebind. I haven't read the manual yet to figure out what I have set wrong, but in that circumstance, a voltage sag sufficient to reset the receiver would cause the loss of a plane.

Jim,

One radio had A problem that no one has any information on at this time except 2nd and 3rd hand information. Nothing fishy, just a lack of information.

Hi

When I crashed my aircraft this week-end , the first thing that came to mind was the radio , it,s sooooo easy to do so . After an investigation , and a thorough check of the radio system . It was obvious , that I didn,t plug in the extension to the receiver properly . This was my case . A bad solder joint . in one , out of how many radios . It can happen to any make of radio no matter how much you pay for it . The only thing that I have read is that Hitec has admitted to a bad soldering joint , so far anyway

We haven,t heard from the Hitec guys as of yet

Michel
