White lithium grease on servo gears?
I'm about to replace stripped gears in a Hitec HS-605BB servo and notice the gears are lube with a white greasy substance. Is this white lithium grease? Or is it something special I need to spend way too much on at the LHS? Thanks.

White lithium grease on servo gears?
A Product Support person from Horizon told me to use Tamiya Ceramic grease when replacing servo gears. Maybe the same stuff?
Make sure every last little bit of the old gears is removed. Otherwise, this debris will ruin the new gears too.

White lithium grease.
You can buy a large (20oz?) tube at Lowes for a couple fo dollars. Much cheaper than fishing reel lube, $8 at Dicks

Lithium grease is perfect for servo's. Silicone is almost totally pointless because the main benefit of silicone is it's heat resistance, problem is the gears will melt long before the grease will have problems with it => Lithium grease is a generally all around good grease for about anything. Dielectric grease is also another pointless 'bonus' unless your servo's leak grease all the time, in which case you should probably repair them.

Almost forgot, don't use too much, if you pack the housing with grease it will hurt things (increased wear, tear, heat, wasted energy), use just enough to coat the gears, and maybe a tiny extra bit close to the gear where general use and bumping is liable to drip the stuff close enough to the gear to self lubricate.
