All of Airtronics 72, 75 mhz radio's have been discontinued. That RD8000 is a leftover. It is against the law to change a transmitter crystal without the proper checks. The 2.4 ghz version of that radio was on sale the last I checked and would be a much better choice. 72 mhz is dead, so spending money on it; is silly, when its available used dirt cheap.

"72 MHz is dead" ???
Maybe only if you are a newbie just coming into the hobby and want to know what radio to buy. Otherwise, if you already have an established fleet of aircraft 72 MHz is not dead when you are going to have to spend $70 to $100 per plane to convert to 2.4 GHz.

I've only been able to afford to convert 3 planes over so far!!! =)

I do believe you can send it to Airtronics and have it swapped to 72. You can ask them at airtronics.net

LONG LIVE 72MHZ!!!! I still have to many Rx's around to say it is dead.
