Default AM Radios

This question has probably been out here before, but are AM radios still being used today? If they are, are they limited to certain frequencys? Have a chance to buy one reasonable, but need to find out if they are still legal or not. Anyone help me out on this?

Boxbeam,

1) Yes, they are still being used.
2) They can operate on all legal frequencies 27mhz, 50 - 53 mhz, 72mhz.
3) Insure that the radio CAN or does meet 1991 requirements.

That's it!

Mike said it best: They can, and are still in use as long as they meet the narrow-band specification.

I still use mine (but not for much longer - I just bought an FM Rx so I can retire it).

For Futaba, click here to find out how to identify their narrow-band radios. Sorry, I don't have the other brands bookmarked.
