Default Difference between R138DP and R148DP

So what's the difference between an R138DP and an R148DP? The price difference at Tower is $50. They are both 8 channel dual conversion PCM. What am I missing. The case seems different, but who cares about that?

Default Difference between R138DP and R148DP

The main difference between the R138DP and the R148DP is the size and weight, the R148DP is smaller and lighter than the R138DP, so it is more useful to glider pilots or anyone that must take weight into consideration. Also the R148DP has the connector pins on the side of the receiver instead of the top.
Last, the R138 has one regulator for voltage and the R148 has two, neither of which regulate voltage to the servos.

Default Difference between R138DP and R148DP

According to the schematics the R148DP has two voltage regulators and the 148DF one. Both use the same PCM processors and the servo output voltages are regulated .
The front end RF circuitry of the R148DP is considerably more complex than the R138DP. It uses Futaba's own design circuitry (more components) similar to JR's ABC&W.
