Futaba 9c and Spektrum module
I see the Spektrum module for a Futaba 9c is only $109 c/w a Ar7000 rx. Thats a $99 rx. Anybody using one? Could I use a AR500 for my planes like a Pulse XT 40 or Kadet Seniorta ep. I also have a Pawnee but I think it would need the seven channels for flaps. I really can't remember what I am is using as I have not flown it for probably two years. I also have lots of parkflyers that I think a AR6110e would work. I would like to update while I can still buy a 2.4 module for it and Spektrum I think has a better line of rxs. But I currently have 18 planes c/w gear setup and at all most $100 per plane for a 2.4 rx shipped to Canada and taxes paid that is a lot of money. Only one person who don't fly very often is on my channel so what am I getting. But I could buy the module and sell the Ar7000 to get most of my money back and keep the module for later.

RE: Futaba 9c and Spektrum module
I have this combo and it's great. I used the AR7000 in my two 50cc gassers. They worked flawlessly. I wouldn't sell the AR7000, I'd use it if you can. It's very light. Also I use the 3.5 gram 6110's in my foamy's. there's no catch other than it only uses PPM which is 512 resolution. The new 2.4G tranmitters are 2048. Do you really care about 512 resolution with park flyers? No. It's a great combo. A bunch of guys have it in my club after seeing mine. I use the spark Fun antenna as recommended by Tom at WildhareRC. It's way better than the ugly one they include in the combo.

I use the Spektrum system in my 9C for small foamy and BNF planes. I have a new Futaba 10CAG with FASST for my big birds.

RE: Futaba 9c and Spektrum module
If you're not having problems with your current stuff, and not having flying time conflicts with the other person, there's no real reason to change. Our club is small, and my brother and I are on channel 13. I have never even seen another transmitter on 13.
I'm not sure I would buy anything with the idea of sitting on it for several years before using it. Your 9C could "die" at any time. Probably not likely but definitely possible.
If you just "want" to switch to a 2.4 gHz setup,
Another combo worth looking at is the Hitec http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=HRCL4605&P=0
For $114.99, you get a seven channel module and TWO six channel receivers. The six channel receivers are regularly about $50 each so they are also practically giving away the modules.
I think Spektrum and Hitec are both playing a pretty smart game. They are putting together very attractive packages that are tough to ignore. I know Futaba has done some promotions with rebates and receiver deals but the ones I have seen do not really match what the competition is doing.

RE: Futaba 9c and Spektrum module
i have been using the spektrum module for 2 seasons now, never a problem, i probably have a dozen or so receivers form the 6100 to the 9000 everything works great, the biggest advantage to the spektrum system over everthing else is the bind and fly systems that horizon offers
