How do you do a range check on the 2.4 GHz radios?

depends on what brand of 2.4 ghz it is, you have to put the TX in range check mode which reduces the RF power output. The JR / Spektrum system, you hold the button on the back of the TX to reduce the power, Futaba has a range check mode, hold a button (dial) down while you turn on the TX. Other brands I am unfamiliar with.

After the RF power is reduced you do the walk and check for range problems. The manuals usually state something like 100 feet but I can generally go 300 feet or more with the RF power reduced before losing signal.
