RE: Charlottesville Racers Thread
I have two 1900 battery packs and a charger I can use for the starter box, so all I need is the box for now. I really can't afford to spend much more than $50 on a starter box though. I stopped by Stampy's today and he said he's gonna order a few starters that will be in before the weekend. I'm not sure exactly which starters they are, but he said they'll cost $50. I wish I could spend the extra $30, but for now, a $50 one will have to do. I don't need something with any bells and whistles, just something that'll get the job done. I've already got two glow starters, so having another on my stater box isn't an necessity.

Are you getting a new engine? Or are you fed up with that pull starter?

I need a starter box as well and the ones I pointed out to Stampy is the same same box that Scott has... I don't belive it has the power panel like Kevins but you can get a glow ignitor that will clip on the the battery terminals for 9 bucks in the shop.

Hey all, what do you think of this starter box?: [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRS98&P=R]Link to Tower[/link]
It looks identical to [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHAR1&P=R]THIS[/link] one, the one Kevin recommended, only without all the bells and whistles and $40 less.

But anyway, as long as I can get a box at Stampys for $50, I'm good. [8D]

Its because the wheel is turned to fit things like 1/10th Stadium trucks. You just unscrew the motor mounts and turn it so it fits the 1/8th buggies. Thats why the top plate of the box has cutouts in both directions.
The 1/8th specific boxes have a tendency to be a little wider for the bigger chassis also.

Also some of the 1/8th scale boxes only have one electric motor - but it is a 750 with tons of torq. I have one in my starter box. But - I have watched Kevin and others use the "1/10th" scale boxes with the two 550 motor set-up with no problems what so ever. I guess it is just a marketing hype thing.
Matt - glad to hear that you are going with a new engine - and starter box!

for next weekend. maybe we will have something up for grabs. with a new layout no one will
have an advantage. maybe ill get with stumpy and see if he can help out.

Christian you have way too much time on your hands!
yep - we hope to have Amanda's buggy up and running for the next big day. Mine just needs some fine tuning on the new engine - I have already re-set the camber and front toe-out.

Wow, when I come weekend after next I'll have a new car, new engine, new starter box, and have to get used to the new track layout. Something is telling me I should drop by Saturday to get some tuning and practice behind my belt.
