New nitro drifitng thread??
Hey everyone!
any interest in a thread like this?
will there be enough action here to make a new sticky?
The "official nitro drifting thread" is past dead..
other than me, the last post was 15 years ago.
Maybe we can have a spot to share rides, shelf queens, pictures, videos, tuning, parts?
I currently have a;
-HPI Nitro 3 drift RTR
-Redcat STR Dorifuto (Redcat Lightnig STR with custom self-made drift conversion)
-HPI RS-4 II (old and neglected, just got it last weekend)
The rs4 II will be a RWD drift machine. it is the current project now that the redcat is pretty much done.
I have tons of photos and a youtube channel with videos of the first runs of my self made drift machine.
I dont know how to make the pictures smaller, so ill just put a couple for now.
it is the redcat with drift conversion installed, and very worn type A tires.
the body is not quite finished yet.

Right on man! Welcome👋
Yea it's not a super popular genre of RC, but the people that are still into it are usually long term.
That video is a gem! These cars, and nitro drifting are very underappreciated. Most just don't know the capabilities.
The RS4 would he great to drift with! Tou dont have mid-engine, but that just means suspension ntuning needs to be different.
check out "GP RC Drift Team Unlimited" to see capabilities of rear-engine 4wd drifting.
Type A tires are still in production, so it's just a matter of finding a retailer.
Tamiya Type D tires are also really good, most of the Team Unlimited uses Tamiya Type-D tires.
Im hoping too see some action here too!!
maybe some lookie lous will chime in, even if its just over curiosity rather than experience🤷♂️

I am not really into any specific genre of RC as I do just about everything except race. I’ve unintentionally built some drift cars, but mainly due to putting way too powerful of engines into the car. Anyone tried getting a 4x4 1/8th scale monster truck on low profile tires and get it to drift?
Silliness aside, I was going to do a big block conversion in my Jato and do something like drifting with it, but I sold my cheap RTR Engines and only have a modified Picco Comp .21 or a modified Novarossi P5XLT .21 left. Neither of those two would be strong enough I don’t think.
Probably not the response you expected to get…. Sorry, I’m an odd duck.

Hey man!
haha i will say no I have not gotten an 1/8th truck to drift, you got me there😅 sounds pretty sick though!
An overpowered power source is always a sure fire way to get to drifting \m/
On the FB pages, a lot of people seem to like the Dynamite Big-Red .28! If .21 isn't enough, .28 might be the ticket!
The Jatos are awesome trucks. I've jeevr owned one but would like to add one to the fleet eventually.
Currently, my line up is this:
-Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 Classic(GP)
-"vintage" Losi 1/10 Desert Truck(EP)
-Axial SCX10 2 Deadbolt(EP)
-HPI Nitro 3 Drift RTR(GP)
-HPI Nitro RS-4 2(GP)
-Redcat Lightning STR "Dorifuto"(GP)
