RE: help me start my car
the car is either running too lean or their is no fuel running into the exhaust line...is there suppose to be fuel running into the exhaust line like the line going into the motor?...i mean like constant? no inbetween air?...
the car keeps boggin on me and dying out...or it would raise the RPM high and just dies out...=\

RE: help me start my car
what car are we dealing with here?
If it's the RTR Nitro TC3, then your settings to start out at should be, with the main needle (High speed needle) closed (turned in all the way clockwise), open (turn it counter-clockwise) the main needle 2 1/2 turns.
With the carburator closed completely (you should look inside the carb to make sure the throttle is closed all the way) turn the low speed needle clockwise till it stops, then turn it counter-clockwise 2 1/2 turns.
If the idle seems rough, or it sounds like the engine is gaining rpm, and then loosing rpm while idling, turn the low speed needle 1/8 of a turn and recheck. Keep doing this untill you have a nice....smoothe idle.
Now that your idle is set, run the car out on a nice flat and long spot. See if you are getting a good smoke trail from the exhaust. If your car still seems to run rough, i.e. it wont shift into second gear, then you may have to turn the main needle clockwise 1/4 turn to lean the mixture out some.
Let me know if this helps, and if this is not the car you have then please enlighten us.

Its not like a F16 with after burner (LoL)
That is a pressure line, to pressurise the fueltank...

RE: help me start my car
top lid of the line went into the engine...
buttom hole line went into the exhaust piping. (have a springy thing u press to make the fuel move)
im having alot of problems with this POS. i'm going to bring it to a hobby shop tomorrow and see if they can do anything...if not, and most likely i'm going to call HPI for a replacement.

RE: help me start my car
if its an evo im assuming it has rotostart, so when you are pressing the rotostart, and theres fuel in the tank, and you have the igniter in, cover the exhaust tip with your finger for like 3 seconds when you are pressing the rotostart, then take your finger off and continue pressing roto, or try adjusting the throttle, idle, if you are using the rtr remote the idle adjustment knobby thing is the lower dial , below the two green lights and the red light, oh yeah and dont forgot to switch those lines back around so the bottom one is going to exhaust and top is going to exhaust, if you havent already

RE: help me start my car
ya i changed that today, it felt weird to me thats why...
so put my finger on the exhaust outlet for 3 sec and continue on holding the rotostart?...
do i have to do anything to adjust the richnest? or lean out the car?....if so i read that on the manual off the net, that close the valve and than turn it 2 turns counter clock wise to open it up, do the same to the idle...but turn it 2 and a 1/2.
if it doesn't work tonight i will bring it to a hobby shop and ask them if they can start it for me.

ha!
got it to work today yay.
did my break in just now, i think i need to lean out the carb a little bit more, cuz sometimes when i'm doing a burst from idle to 1/3 the throttle it'll sometimes bog and die out...hmm....

RE: help me start my car
1) Check for air leaks( fuel bubbles, broken o-rings, make sure carb s on there tight)
2) Set the needles to factory setting( I dont know what it is, I run a savage)
also closed position doesn't always mean turned to tight.
3) When tunning, set the hsn first, then the lsn(make sure to have this in the closed position when setting) Idle screw, set flush with the lsn. It's hard to tell without engine going.
4)Check glow plug
5) Make sure everything is charged.
6)Pre heat engine
Or Go In Deeper
1)Make sure everything is sealed up( roto start backplate, etc.)
2) Check the one way bearing, It could be broken)
3) Make sure that the thing(forgot name) under the head is on the correct way.( It's right if the glow plug is inserted on the flat side)

RE: help me start my car
turned the carb. open 3 rotations. instead of 2 1/2
closed the idle screw.
hmm i'm wondering, when i have my radio off. and car turn on...the idle gets reallllly high...BUT when i turn my radio on, the car jumps back down to normal idling.....do i have to unscrew some bolts on the moving parts of the throttle and line it back up?..
