question glow plugs

Default question glow plugs

ok so this may be stupois but after you remove a glow igniter what keeps making the nitru combust in the combustion chamber

The coils are made of a special material (forgot the name), but it relies on the heat of combustion to keep it glowing. It doesn't work the same way a spark plug does as a spark plug requires constant power supply. Glow plugs don't. As long as you tune your engine properly it will run for a while.

the coil is made from platnum and i believe the whole thing be hind it is that you heat it up to get the combustion started and once it starts it keeps the plug hot enough to keep the cycle going

just like a diesal engine

The previous explosion keeps the coil hot for the next one

good call JD, I was going to say the same. Yes, each previous "explosion" in the engine heats up the little coil of platinum iridium enough to ignite the next charge, and a chain reaction ensues.
