If you decide to go with that 4.6, you will definetly need those mounts along with diffs.

Buy plenty of tires for that upgrade.

the 4.6 in the rs4 sounds like a real waste of money and alot of head aches sorry

the car is just gonna drift around and then hit a curb and break

i would still like to see a video though

Ive just put a .27 into my little buggie (cyplone Pro - WRX STI). I have two onw with a team infinity 18 motor which is all over the road as it is, and i expect the 27 big block will give me more top end as the second gear at 41000 RPM should be better thatn the 30ooo RPM from the .18. - PS standard tehy come out with a .15

i got the wolfpack radicals .21 conversion

you will need those mounts, stock rs4 mounts WONT WORK, plus the wolfpack are adjustable mounts so thats a +

it really isnt that hard to control unless you constantly floor it from dead stop then yeah it will just do doughnuts

i went through alot of plastic spug gears at first until I learned how to drive it, now I can FLY!!

theres is 1 more thing you have to do, I have to change my rear a-arms backwards so the .21 header could fit...its good because your wheels are further apart for better handling but no bodies will fit it right, you will have to cut the wheel well out and make it fit the newly positioned a-arms

luckily I had some extra bodies

IT IS FUN THOUGH!!!!!!

how do you mean?

the .21 is heavier than a .12 or .15 also the pipe is a little more heavier

but it'll still faster even though it weights more....TRUST ME!!

yea its just that people have said that the extra weight brings bad balance problems,

will these mounts work on any .15 .12 and .18 hpi or os engine?

Also why only hpi and os? cant i use them on a different .18 engine?

yea its just that people have said that the extra weight brings bad balance problems,

thats not intirely true, my car really doesnt pull to any 1 side, its pretty well balanced

those people are probably the same people who from a dead stop send the car flying a WOT...

ive even seen .12, .15 & .18s that spin outta control due to the drivers inability to control it NOT balance problems....its all up to the individual I guess and their skill or practice level

at first I couldnt really control the .21 due to the power it produced but over time I got the hang of it

I remember when I bought the rs4 w/ the old school belts I couldnt really control it that well because that was my first nitro car....funny that engine was that ugly old .15fe LOLOL

so its all a learning process......

its kinda like you get into a 222hp mustang and you can drive it

then you step into a 400hp saleen, YEAH I bet at first people couldnt make the wheels lock up and would just be fishtailing all over the place, but come back in a couple of weeks and that same person will be driving the SH*T outta that saleen

why not get these alum 1's http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCLR3&P=7

they are a little better quality and have a better stronger mounting surface

but to answer your question I think those will work w/ any .12 .15 or .18 engine

thanx,

Im from the uk as i said before and im not realy looking to spend £15 on mounts just for an .18 i can get the hpi/os mounts for like £5 / $8. Does anyone know if their is any difference in the mounting sizes in the tabs from the os engines to a diff brand?

Personally you can win against a .18TZ powered car easily with a weaker engine. Remember the RS4 doesn't have that tall of gears like most of todays nitro touring cars. The OS .18TZ has tons of bottom end power and slowly broadens out on top end. Therefore a taller gearing is necessary otherwise the engine will not like the gearing. Possibly it can run hot, destroy your tires, and clutch gear. Simple thing is to drop in the OS .18CVRX for $100 or less, a tuned pipe, spare plugs, and optional gearing to play with. All that for theprice of the OS .18TZ alone. Think about it..the TZ when your done will cost you $300 to get the engine, decent pipe, and gear to make it fit in the car not to mention tires that will hold upto the sheer power of that engine. I still have a video of my friends R40 with Wasp .12RE vs a Serpent 705 w/.18TZ. The serpent wasn't much faster and did slide around quite noticably. I also personally drag raced em and around the tracks. Not a challenge unless money and setup is put into the car. Just my 2cents.

HPI makes some of the tallest gears around. If you have a 2 speed, you can run down to a 37 with a 23. Unless you want to go custom, then you can go all the way up to a 26T. I run a 37/26 set up with a .21 on my RS4-2 but Ive seen it done on the RS4-3.
